GEORGETOWN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION BY ~LAWS Revised June 4, 2014 ARTICLE I NAME The name of this organization shall be the Georgetown Education Association. ARTICLE II OBJECTIVES The objectives of the Association are to promote the interests of teachers; to form a closer bond among them by means of fellowship and cooperation; to maintain and promote quality education; to uphold high professional standards and to advance the socioeconomic well being of educators. ARTICLE III AFFILIATIONS This Association shall be affiliated with the Massachusetts Teachers Association, hereinafter called the M.T.A. and with the National Education Association, hereinafter called the N.E.A. ART1CLE IV MEMBERSHIP Section 1. Any teacher, supervIsor (except Principals and Assistant Principals) or nurse employed in the public schools of Georgetown may become a member . Section 2.. Any other person may become a member, providing s/he receives a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Association at a meeting, providing a quorum is present. Section 3. Retired teachers are to be considered honorary members with no financial membership. ARTICLE V OFFICERS/EXECUTIVE BOARD Section 1. The officers of the association shall be as follows: a president or two co-presidents, a vice-president, a secretary, and a treasurer. Section 2. A, The president(s) shall be reimbursed for expenditures in the amount of six thousand five hundred dollars ($6500 -one president.) or three thousand two hundred and fifty dollars ($3250- each co-president). B. The vice president shall be reimbursed for expenses in the amount of one thousand six hundred and twenty-five dollars ($1625). C. The treasurer shall each be reimbursed in the amount of one thousand nine hundred and fifty dollars ($1950) and the secretary one thousand three hundred dollars ($1300). Section 3. A. President (1) The president shall preside over all meetings of the Executive Board and of the general membership. (2) S/he shall appoint the chairperson and members of standing committees and special committees and shall be a member of said committees ex officio. (3) S/he shall be the Executive officer of the Association. (4) S/he shall perform all other functions usually attributed to this office. (5) S/he shall be the official spokesperson for the Association.

ARTICLE I NAMEThe name of this organization shall be the Georgetown Education Association.
