Topic Sentence: One of Australia’s future challenges that, is being addressed by current government polices is the ageing population.

Explanation/Elaboration: The ageing population is caused my many improvements and changes in the 21st Century. In Australia the life expectancy was 55.2 for males and 58.8 for females during 1901, the life expectancy is predicted to reach 83.3 for males and 86.6 for females. These figures show the alarming rate of which the Australian population is ageing, the rate is a result of improved living conditions e.g. better food, water and lifestyle. As a result the Australian government has developed certain policies such as compulsory superannuation to deal with the cost of an ageing population. The idea of superannuation is to save money off the person’s income when they are paid and to save it for their retirement this is to save the government money and to save the taxpayers money by paying fewer taxes for the pension.
