Genre research into indie rock

Indie rock musicIndie music is the popular abbreviation of independent music. This is a term which is to show music that has no allocation to a main stream or commercial recording brand. In other words the band have grown and created a name for themselves or through small record companies. By growing through popularity this way the label has had minimal influence on the bands lyrics or look and therefore known for there uniqueness. Because of this there audience is diverse and there style is listened to by a lot of people. During the 50’s and 60’s the major record companies hindered the growth of independent bands and where therefore dismissed. However today the majority of bands are originally formed through there independence and determination to be heard. This started in the punk rock era of the 1980’s where the first “indie” bands were formed. Although around the world the phrase indie was used in a lot of different respects.in the first movement.

Indie rock music • Indie rock is my chosen genre for my

music magazine. This genre originated in the united kingdom and USA in the mid 1980’s . It was a term used for new bands that weren't endorsed by major record labels. Therefore individual bands. However this understanding of the term has quite recently been misunderstood and changed upon society. People now see this as a genre of music with individual qualities and clothing. Arctic monkeys and the rapture these are two different bands but classed under the same “indie” category . There are those that believe both of these uses of the term are true and therefore see bands for there taste and how they became famous.

Fashion associated with indie• Often the music of indie has

diversified and became known as a style as well as a genre of music. Indie is often very outrageous choices of clothing. Skinny jeans, converse, snazzy belts, dyed hair, shirts , vintage clothing. Indie rock artists often start these styles by wearing certain clothes during gigs or photo shoots. Their styles quickly set the latest trends they are very influential among the teens.

A variety of indie artists stylesAll of these artists are similar in music style however have a diverse fashion sense. The arctic monkeys have a rock and roll 80’s style whereas the foals have a more vintage teen style. All of which are majority vintage clothing.
