Moulin Rouge – Elephant Love Medley

Every musical at one point or another has an up and a down to it, this is just for variation for the audience and to keep them interested. The scene that I have chosen is the Elephant Love Medley Scene from Moulin Rouge; I have chosen this because this has the ups and downs in just one song. The way it switches from upbeat loud music to slow emotional parts to the song. This alternation keeps the audience engaged, a long with the vibrant powerful colours when something is supposed to be striking or dramatic moment and then gloomy colours like grey and blue and the use of shadowing upon faces. This is what makes this scene such a good example as it includes most of the conventions.
