Page 2: Genre Morphs Project

• While I was doing this project I got to look at all of the things that personally think represent power and I got to learn a little bit about myself. I think that looking at all my images I have a really good assortment of what I believe is power. Many of the images I have display the natural power and beauty of the elements. I had a really good time making this project because it is fun to think about power because it is something that every human desires. The thing about images is that we often see power in them. Power is all around us and also inside of us. We see power in a movie which is a combination of images and it can create a yearning for power when we see it created like that. Everybody wants to seek some form of power in their life. We have power over us as Americans in the form of the government. These are physical institutions that are run by people that create power they also have indirect power over us in the form of taxes. If we are students in s school and is being payed for by our parents then we have power over us in the form of our parents. I feel like I have a really good assortment of things that we think are powerful or control the things that we like as humans all encompassed in this PowerPoint. I love the idea that there is this power that is held over us and it comes from so man different places in our lives. All of this power is generated by us and other humans around the earth all coming into contact with each other for different reasons and trying to find our places in the world. Some of the power just comes from the earth itself and has so much effect on the way that we live our lives. Humans have become beings that need to have shelter due to the power of the weather. We also need money because that is one of the things that separates us from other animals.

Page 3: Genre Morphs Project

• We have a currency that we hold in our minds to have some sort of relevance which speaks to the amount of power we have placed into money. Other animals simply just take what they need to survive so I want to make my project embody all of the things that really have an impact on the human existence. We have the earth and then we have all of the physical things that are on earth and the ways that humans manipulate them physically or by using their intellect to attach semantics to some of the things that are in our environment. I had a really good time finding all of these images because I think that they are all really interconnected to one another. Everything that is on earth has some sort of relationship to power. I could have put the most random images and still it is related to power. The one thing that there is so much of the earth that we cant see is energy. I feel like that is one of the most important things about power is that it is within everybody. Power is the reason that we can get up in the morning and figure out how to go get more power. Power is such an ambiguous term because it applies to so many different things in life. There is power that is attached to objects that are related to humans such as money and there is power that is directly related to something such as an image of a car collision. Seeing how something can be destroyed is one of the most powerful things in the world due to the fact that it can completely change the way that you look at your life. I had a lot of fun looking at the drug cartel picture because I think that the whole war on drugs is one of the most fascinating things in the entire world. I love the way that people who don’t have as much money are fighting to grab that power in any way that they know possible. It shows what type of world we live in today. I also had fun looking at the money image because money is what drives so many people to do some of the crazy things that they do. It shows that people can still be slaves in an indirect sense. Many people minds have fallen victim to the power of the dollar and it completely changes the way that they act.

• Text- The text of this image is in the digital format. It is a digital graphic that was modified with the use of photoshop.

• Reader- there is not really a specified reader for who is going to see this photograph. However I found it on a realty website so I guess you could count whoever reads that into the audience.

• Author- I couldn’t find who actually created the image however it was probably someone with a background in Graphic Design.

• Constraints- I don’t know if a tidal wave of that size would ever hit a city like that but it is a really impressive image that I feel has metaphorical implications.

• Exigence- Most likely the artists involvement in the production of this piece was one where he was required to produce the artwork for a sum of money
