As we look at the man “Isaiah” (salvation of the Lord), there is not much we know about his personal life: He is the son of Amoz, (1:1). His wife was a prophetess, (8:3). He had at least two sons, (7:3, 8:3). Contemporary of Micah, (Micah 1:1).He “walked naked (no outer

garment) and barefoot three years “ (20:3).Tradition has Isaiah, “sawn asunder” (age 90) by the order of Mannasseh.

II Kings 15:1-7 - In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king.2 He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.3 And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done,4 except that the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.5 Then the LORD struck the king, so that he was a leper until the day of his death; so he dwelt in an isolated house. And Jotham the king's son was over the royal house, judging the people of the land.

6 Now the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?7 So Azariah rested with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Then Jotham his son reigned in his place.

1931 The Uzziah Tablet was discovered by Professor E.I. Sukenik of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. It was found in the collection of the Russian Convent on the Mount of Olives, but there is no record of the place from which it was removed. The inscription reads, "Hither were brought the bones of Uzziah King of Judah and do not open"

II Chronicles 27:1-9 - Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.2 And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah had done (although he did not enter the temple of the LORD). But still the people acted corruptly.3 He built the Upper Gate of the house of the LORD, and he built extensively on the wall of Ophel.4 Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests he built fortresses and towers.5 He also fought with the king of the Ammonites and defeated them. And the people of Ammon gave him in that year one hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kors of

wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The people of Ammon paid this to him in the second and third years also.6 So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God.7 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars and his ways, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.8 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.9 So Jotham rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Then Ahaz his son reigned in his place.

II Chronicles 28:1-5 - Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and he did not do what was right in the sight of the LORD, as his father David had done.2 For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made molded images for the Baals.3 He burned incense in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.4 And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.5 Therefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. They defeated him, and carried away a great multitude of them as captives, and brought them to Damascus. Then he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.

II Kings 18:1-8 - Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz, king of Judah, began to reign.2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.3 And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done.4 He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan.5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him.

6 For he held fast to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses.7 The LORD was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.8 He subdued the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city.

Most important of all Isaiah tells us about the Messiah (Jesus) who would come to provide deliverance for all (Jew\ Gentile). Jesus, who would come to suffer the agony of the cross, would be exalted to sit upon the throne as the King of His Kingdom (church)!
