Service Opportunity: We will be collecting food items and/or donations to support Grassroots Code Blue Meal Kits at the luncheon. These kits will be provided to individuals staying in the Grassroots building during an extremely cold or inclement weather event. LHC Members Donate to Howard County Library Mitten Tree

Thank you to everyone who attended ourmembership luncheon Nov. 9 and for yourgenerous donations to benefit the HowardCounty Library Mitten Tree. If you weren’t ableto join us, but still want to donate (new)mittens, hats or scarfs in sizes for toddlers toteens, items may be brought to any HCLbranch during the month of December. Theitems will be distributed to local charities afterthe holidays.

Mental Health Outreach and Community Engagement Grants Available:The Horizon Foundation seeks committed organizational partners to helpincrease Howard County parent and student awareness of the signs/symptoms ofanxiety and depression. The Foundation is also seeking organizational partners tohelp encourage and normalize help-seeking behavior related to mental health,address social and cultural stigmas that could prevent people from getting the helpthey need and further help parents learn about and take advantage of school-based mental health services in schools where they exist. Grants range between$500 to $20,000 and will be available to organizations interested in committing tothis work. The deadline to submit the application is December 7, 2018. Proposalswill be reviewed and qualified applicants will be notified no later than December 28,2018. For more information, click here.The Howard County Commission for Women seeks nominations foroutstanding women to be inducted into the 2019 Women’s Hall of Fame. Thisannual event honors Howard County women who have made significantcontributions to the lives of others in Howard County, Maryland or the nationthrough their leadership, professional and/or community service.
