During Euro 2012 the City of Kyiv will offer an addition-al attraction for its citizens and visitors: the «European Village. Our Continent. Our Future».

From 2 June to 1 July, under the Arch of Friendship, the European Village will showcase projects and approaches in eleven selected fi elds of international development co-operation. It will promote European integration and coop-eration in an interactive and entertaining way. The Europe-an Village is a German-Ukrainian initiative in partnership with the European Union and the City of Kyiv.

The European Village will foster and stimulate dialogue between actors from the worlds of politics, business, cul-ture and nongovernmental organizations. A small foot-ball pitch will host numerous tournaments: of European embassies, European educational institutes and of the Fair Play project. Goodwill Ambassador of the project is Anatoliy Tymoshchuk. Young and talented Ukrainian and European musicians will perform on the stage. Fashion shows and fi lm festivals will present a colorful picture of Ukraine and its European partners. A thematic park with permanent and temporary exhibitions will feature the elev-en themes of global development, ranging from Ukraine-Europe relations to sport and development. Even a small electric power plant will be installed to promote effi cient and renewable energies.

Eleven dedicated «thematic days» will round off the offerings with public debates, student conferences, and practical information sessions. At the European Pin Wall, visitors can display their views and ideas about the future of Europe. At Culinarna Ukraina guests can savor Ukrai-nian food and drinks. Promoting European values, Euro-pean integration and cooperation, the European Village will present the rich European diversity in a peaceful and entertaining way.
