Creating Aged & Distressed Finishes

Course Overview:

Scandinavian Panel with Efex

1. Apply Efex with Dap Rapid Fuse Glue (pre-applied) 2. Paint 1 to 2 coats of Summertime Blue Chalk Style Paint 3. Lightly wet-brush French Vanilla Chalk Style Paint over the piece 4. Wet-brush Charleton Blue Chalk Style Paint in corners and edges, dampen with water to lessen

effect. Blot with paper towel. Let dry. 5. Apply Van Dyke Glaze Effects to entire piece (use wet brush or water bottle to lessen effect

where needed). Wipe back. 6. Apply Burnished Pearl Effects to corners and over Efex molding 7. Seal if necessary.

Materials: • GF Chalk Style Paint: Summertime Blue • GF Chalk Style Paint: Charleton Blue • GF Chalk Style Paint: French Vanilla • GF Glaze Effects: Van Dyke Brown • GF Pearl Effects: Burnished Pearl • Rapid Fuse Glue • Efex Molding • Spray Water Bottle

Aged Metallic

1. Paint 1 to 2 coats of Slate Gray Chalk Style Paint 2. Paint Argentine Pearl thickly in crisscross manner, leaving strokes visible. 3. Paint Bronze & Tawny Pearl randomly in a few spots in crisscross manner. Let dry. 4. Apply Pitch Black Glaze Effects and wipe off immediately. Use spray bottle of water to get more off. 5. Seal if necessary.

Materials: • GF Chalk Style Paint: Slate Gray • GF Glaze Effects: Pitch Black • GF Pearl Effects: Argentine Pearl • GF Pearl Effects: Bronze Pearl • GF Pearl Effects: Tawny Pearl • Spray Water Bottle • Assorted Foam & Chip Brushes

Chippy Farmhouse

1. Stain raw wood with Espresso Water Based Wood Stain. 2. Paint or dab Vaseline in random areas. 3. Paint over Vaseline with Snow White Milk Paint. Let dry. 4. Wipe back with a paper towel to reveal chipped areas (repeat with different colors for layered

aged effect). 5. Seal if necessary.

Materials: • GF Water Based Wood Stain: Espresso • GF Milk Paint: Snow White • Vaseline • Paper Towels • Assorted Foam & Chip Brushes

BONUS TECHNIQUE: Burnt Copper

1. Mix a 50/50 mix of Bronze and Tawny Pearl Effects with a few drops of Copper Pearl Effects added. 2. Pounce and crisscross mix randomly all over piece. 3. Pounce pure Copper Pearl Effects in a few spots randomly. Let dry. 4. Brush on Espresso Water Based Wood Stain and sponge off with a paper towel. Use spray bottle of water apply runs and lessen effect where needed. 5. Seal if necessary.
