Biography: EUGENE V. ROZGONYI, JR. Eugene Rozgonyi was named Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of AGL resources in November 2001. He has over 25 years experience with trading and risk management in the energy, commodity and financial markets. Upon graduating from Regis University in Denver, Colorado with a degree in Economics, he joined Tudor Investment Corporation in New York as a commodity floor trader, floor broker, and analyst. Mr. Rozgonyi, went on to become an independent trader in the energy, metals, and financial futures markets acting as both a “local” floor trader and an executing floor broker. In 1993, with the introduction of electricity futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange, he was one of the first independent traders to execute electricity futures contracts and to offer floor brokering services to utilities across the country while also assisting them with their risk management and hedging strategies. Shortly thereafter, as a result of his unique experience, he was recruited by Xcel Energy, a Fortune 500 utility, and for several years led its unregulated wholesale power and natural gas risk management initiatives. He later joined CQG Inc., an industry leader that provides analytics software and trading solutions globally to 90 exchanges and over 100 banks in 67 countries. He was responsible for implementing and launching new products and services targeted at energy traders worldwide. As AGL Resources’ Chief Risk Officer, Mr. Rozgonyi has built upon his success during the early years of deregulation and has led the development of new policies, processes and procedures to embed risk management throughout the company. AGL Resources has been cited as having one of the most evolved enterprise risk management (ERM) programs in the energy industry. Mr. Rozgonyi has also been successful in developing and fostering a new corporate culture that embraces, facilitates and values enterprise risk management and the contribution it makes to the various operating units as well as to the overall company. His responsibilities include development and oversight of all enterprise wide risk management and risk control activities including risks related to the company’s unregulated trading, asset management, weather, operations and treasury. He has created a “pipeline” of relevant reporting that gathers data along a process that begins with what can initially be the complicated and nuanced area of transaction/deal entry, followed by uniquely transforming that data, broadening it with enterprise wide risk assessments, and finally delivering it as simple and coherent risk reporting to various operating groups, and personal and eloquently delivered Board of Director presentations. Mr. Rozgonyi currently serves as on the Board of Directors of Georgia Natural Gas (Chair) and the Commodity Markets Council, a Washington D.C. think tank and trade association. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Senior Housing Options of Colorado and the New York Mercantile Exchange Charitable Foundation. He completed the NASD Series 3 National Commodity Futures Exam (1984), has ethics certifications and has held memberships on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the Commodity Exchange Inc., and two divisions of the New York Board of Trade: the New York Futures Exchange and the Financial Instrument Exchange. Over the years, Mr. Rozgonyi has been a periodic volunteer at the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business for the education of MBA students studying energy market trading and practices and has lectured on risk management in the distinguished leadership series at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. He has also acted as an industry consulting expert for a New York law firm. He was recognized by Pat Wood, former Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), for his contributions assisting in their efforts to ensure accurate, reliable and transparent industry reporting for increased market liquidity, energy price discovery, and the reporting of natural gas and electricity price indices.
