T his project area is directed on implementing Public-Private collaboration through the Global Development Alliance (GDA) between USAID and “Eurasia Group” LLC Switzerland representing companies: “Pioneer”, “John Deere”, “Du Pont” and overall food security in Kyrgyzstan. Companies represented by the Eurasia Group represent well-known world leaders in the supply of high-quality seed, crop protec- tion products, and agricultural machinery. T he GDA program will be implemented jointly by Kyrgyz Agro-Input Enterprise Development Project (KAED) and Eurasia Group, Kyrgyzstan. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the GDA partners on December 18, 2009. KAED II PROJECT AREA III: INCREASE DOMESTIC PRODUCTION OF CORN AS THE MAIN COMPONENT OF LIVESTOCK FEED AND EDIBLE OIL THROUGH HIGHER YIELDS AND PRODUCTIVITY OF MAIZE AND SUNFLOWER DRIVEN BY PRIVATE INVESTMENT IN AGRICULTURE T he Participants to the GDA seek to share their respective strengths, experiences, technologies, methodology, and resources (including human, in-kind, and monetary) in order to achieve the goals set under generating higher incomes for Kyrgyz farmers. I t is estimated that by the end of 2010 an additional 8,000 mt of corn be added to Kyrgyzstan’s food balance at a reduced cost to the consumer and narrow the supply gap for both commodities. More importantly the private sector in agriculture in Kyrgyzstan. T he projected investment by the USAID under the GDA amounts to $400,000 whereas the Eurasia Group will invest approximately - by USAID and Eurasia Group, combined with the foundation for the pro- duction of international brand high quality seed by Kyrgyz seed produc- sector in Kyrgyzstan.
