Pavilion A 19th Century Photographs

• The first Pavilion in the museum features 19th century photographs by world-renowed photographers, Albert Honiss and Manuel Arias Rodriguez. Here, visitors will see old photographs of different places in the country such as Cebu, Iloilo, Corregidor, Bicol, and Manila.

• Some of the highlights in this pavilion include the photographs of Calle Colon, the oldest street in Cebu; 19th century Intramuros, the Biak na Bato headquarters in Bulacan; the Porta Vaga church in Cavite, and copies of the religious literary book Doctrina Christiana in Spanish.

Pavilion B 19th and 20th Century Photographs

• Pavilion B, which houses the Underwood and Underwood Archives from 1898-1905, exhibits significant photographs from the 19th and 20th century Philippines. The room features photographs of General Mariano Trias, the Philippines’ Vice President in 1897; photographs of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, Juan Luna, and Valentin Ventura; Douglas MacArthur’ s father, Arthur MacArthur; the original Magdalo boys from Cavite; and the Porta Vaga Church in Fort San Felipe, Cavite City. Another important set of photographs is the collection of images of different Philippine generals and photos of Philippine revolutionary heroes Andres Bonifacio, Artemio Ricarte, General Mariano Alvarez, Diego Silang, Apolinario Mabini, and Antonio Luna. One of the most prized images in this pavilion is a blown-up photograph of Dr. Jose P. Rizal’ s execution on December 30, 1896, taken from an original photo

Pavilion C Museum hallway and Lobby• Birth of Aviation and Early Military AircraftPavilion C exhibits a

collection of different model aircrafts and paintings celebrating the remarkable history of air transportation. Model airplanes of all sizes are literally everywhere—some are encased in glass, while some are hung from the ceiling. Needless to say, this is definitely a place for people interested in aviation.

• Dozens of these model planes come from different countries such as France, Germany and the United States. Among the most important features are paintings of airplanes used in World War I and II by American painter Stan Stokes. There are also scale models of the B-29 Enola Gay, the airplane used in the 1945 bombing of Hiroshima, Japan

• In the middle of the room lies the model of “The Wright Flyer”, the first powered aircraft created by brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright, builders of the world’ s first successful airplane.

• Aside from the model airplanes, the pavilion also houses rare prints and replicas of some of the most important events in aviation history. The room is sure to spark interest in the wonderful world of flight

Pavilion D Entering the Jet Age• The fourth pavilion features a diverse set of modern

commercial and military aircraft models and images of vehicles used for space exploration. Celebrating more than a century of flight, it features flying machines such as German fighter planes and scale models of different types of aircraft.

• Visitors interested in spacecrafts, astronauts, and possible life forms in space will enjoy the photographs on the pavilion’ s walls. The room demonstrates man’ s contribution as well as deep curiosity on the vast universe around him.

• Some of the highlights include models of the world’s only supersonic airline, the Aerospatiale’ s Concorde; the Boeing 314 Clipper of PanAm Airways, and the supersonic Bell X- 1 jet, the rocket-powered jet that exceeded the speed of sound flown by Captain Chuck Yeager in 194

Pavillion E Museum Lobby and Hallway

• The museum lobby displays some great works of art by world- renowed artists.

• Visitors will surely marvel at the mural of Our Lady of Guadalupe created by Spanish painter Vladimir Cuevas, as well as the carved glass entitled “Goddess of Light” by world-famous sculptor Ramon Orlina.

• The paintings are joined by historical photographs of the Philippines. On the walls are the maps of the Philippines during the 1700s, and an incredible panoramic photograph of Intramuros / Fort Santiago in the 1870s.

• The hallway also displays a wall-sized engraved replica of Dr. Jose P. Rizal’s Mi Ultimo Adios with a specimen of his handwriting. Beside it is a copy of a photograph from his December 30, 1896 execution in Luneta.

• Portraits of GBP chairman Geronimo Berenguer de los Reyes Jr. and his great grandfather Crisanto Mendoza de los Reyes are also displayed along the corridor
