NAME BADGE DRAWING The name badge $30 lucky person could have been Walt Bacon. The good news was that Walt was present; however, the bad news was that he was not wearing his badge. Next month's drawing will be $40. 50/50 DRAWING The 50/50 collection was $130 this month. A potential new mem- ber, Dixie Foster, was asked to reach into the 50/50 bucket and to please pull out just one ticket. The lucky ticket was Fred DeVries who won $65 while the Club received $65. According to my information (which only goes back to 2012) Fred DeVries has only won the 50/50 collection this one time while his wife, Diane, won, but did not receive, $20 in July 2012 for the name badge drawing.
Congratulations to all!!!

From Your Family to Ours There is an old saying that if you love something, you set it free. Such is the case of Paula Lizotte's 1978 25th Anniversary Edition Corvette. The much loved member of Paula's family, affectionately referred to as 'Betty', joined the Museum family this month after Paula made the difficult decision to donate her.
"I started trying to sell her the summer of 2015, but no one was serious about buying her. I wanted someone who loves her as much as I love her. I couldn't manage all the expenses of keeping up a classic car properly. She didn't deserve New England where a third of the year is spent in a garage, " Paula said.
Though Paula had never been to the National Corvette Museum, it seemed like the best place for her Betty. "I'm giving up a little bit of me. She's gone and I'm sad, but she's gone to be a queen. As sad as I was that she's no longer mine, I'm absolutely thrilled she's yours."
Read Paula's complete touching story on the NCM website.
Gm Corvette Plant Paint Shop Construction Underway The first 55 foot, 6,000 pound beam was put into place in what will be the northeast corner of the new paint shop at the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant. "The new paint shop is half the size of the Plant, adding a half million square feet to our operations," said Kai Spande, Plant Manager. "This is for the customers. The paint technology used for
the Corvette is special. Because we're painting carbon fiber and specialized plastics, all off of the body, that demands processes that will only be used here."
Read more about this, including when Corvettes will be rolling through the new shop, on the NCM website.
Are We On Your Bucket List? When you think of Kentucky - you probably think of the Kentucky Derby, fried chicken and bourbon. But did you know that the iconic American Sports Car, the Corvette, has only been made in Kentucky since 1981? For some of our Corvette enthusiasts, their beloved car is what they think of when they think of Kentucky.
Writer, Jenn Shockley, posted "The Ultimate and Definitive Bucket List for everyone in Kentucky" on onlyinyourstate.com, listing 20 picks to represent the Bluegrass State. Making the list at number 16 was yours truly! You can read why Jenn Picked us, as well as some of the other 19 picks on the NCM website.
1958 Corvette Donated During WWII, the American armed forces fell in love with the European sports cars they were seeing overseas...and this is what led to the idea to develop an American sports car. So it is not surprising that Willis Stopler, a member of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII, fell in love with and purchased his own sports car - a 1958 Corvette.
Though he had never been to the Museum, one of his wishes was that his Corvette be donated upon his passing. "So many people wanted the car, but he said it should go to the Museum, both to preserve it, and so that no one would be unhappy," Willis brother-in-law, Walt Friedeman said. Sadly, Willis passed in
6
March, 2015 at the age of 92 and the car recently joined the Museum collection. "The family is pleased to honor his wishes, " Walt added. "The car belongs at the Museum."
You can read more about Willis, and see some photos of his beautiful car on the NCM website.

SPONSOR RELATIONS Again I bring up the subject that Frank Hazem, General Manager, would like to conduct a car clinic consisting of a Q & A session, but I think that the members would like a little more than that and as such I asked what people would like to have at a car clinic. Some of the things that came up are; To test drive a new Corvette Free safety inspection of our cars (a limited number of cars. Put a car on the lift and explain the different components of the car.
I had spoken to Jose Murcia, Service Director, who told me that he would like to set up a track day for us at Irwindale Race Track where we would be driven around the track by one of their drivers in one of their cars. Something for us to think about.
It was sad to hear that Tony Kallah, Sales Manager, was leaving the dealership to be able to work closer to home and be able to spend more time with his family. He will be missed. Rey Gonzalez, Sales Manager, will remain.

XMAS PARTY GREEN ONION RESTAURANT
SAN PEDRO, CA SATURDAY, DEC 19, 2015
As in recent years, the Christmas Party was at the Green Onion Restaurant in San Pedro, CA. It was planned and organized by Jeanette and Rob Weimer. The party was in a dinning room and dance floor separated from the rest of the restaurant.

Music was provided by disk jockey, Joe Lubinski, of Soundwaves West. Joe asked a trivia question, “What record was recorded by Ed “Kookie” Burns of “77 Sunset Strip” fame? A few guessed “Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb.” That was a correct answer, but not the one that Joe wanted. The correct seasonal answer was “Yulesville,” a hip version of “The Night Before Christmas.” Joe volunteered Oscar, Frank & Jerry to perform a reading of this piece.
After the buffet dinner, members danced to Joe’s music. As usual, it started with Jerry line dancing with his posse. When Joe played a slow song, many of the guys made their annual, obligatory dance with their wives. This reminded me of lyrics from Frank Sinatra’s song
Oscar, Frank & Jerry reading “Yulesville”
“Chicago”: “I saw a man, he danced with his wife. In Chicago, Chicago my home town.” Well, that night, the same was true in San Pedro and the following photos are visual proof. Thanks again, Rob and Jeanette.

The inaugural run of the “Monday Driver’s Club” was organized and led by Jack Walter. Jack’s plan is to have a bi-monthly run. If there is at least one other driver that shows up, Jack will lead the run. On this first event, there were 13 cars. Our 10am meeting point was the IN-N-OUT at 405 and Inglewood in Redondo Beach. We headed up the coast on 405/10/PCH.
From PCH, we took Topanga Canyon Blvd. and travelled west on Mulholland Hwy. Our first stop was the Rock Store that we used for a photo op. Raul asked a German tourist to take our group photo. On the weekend, the parking lot at the Rock Store is full of motorcycles, but fortunately for us all of the bikers were at work. The downside of this was that Jack’s wife, Patrice, was also at work. (I guess there are some disadvantages to being young.)

We saw many sites that in- cluded moun- tains, windy roads and tun- nels. Some roads were blocked off because of recent mud slides. Neptune’s Net, our lunch destination, is also a weekend favorite of bikers. Again, traveling on Monday enabled us to all find parking spaces.
