GAY MARRIAGE

• Everyone has the Constitutional right to marry

• The Supreme Court upholds the wish to marry whomever one chooses

• States should not make laws that do not abide by the Constitution

• Made same-sex marriages illegal in California in 2008

• Only marriage between one manand a woman is valid or recognized from that point on

• Challenged in 2009, but was upheld until August 2010 when it was voided by the Federal Courts

•The right to marry should not be based on sexual orientation

• Under the law, every individual should be given the same rights

• Gays have been forced to rally and take part in movements so that their voices can be heard

• They promote peace and equality, while campaigning for their own rights

• Gay’s and lesbian’s taking part in rally’s have been met with opposition by those who believe that marriage can only be between one man and one woman.

• Celebrities have used their influence to bring awareness to the injustice• This can help the public see same-sex couples in a positive way

• Bullying associated with gay slurs has become a major factor in teen suicides.

• This shows an increase in the intolerance towards gays and lesbians.

Public Display of Affection

• With the increasing amount of PDA in our society today, some people accept, rather than judge gays

• Others still strongly believe that PDA between gays in inappropriate

• The constitution gives everyone equal rights

• These rights include the right to love whomever you wish

• One cannot be withheld from being with someone of the same sex, so why should they not be allowed to wed as well?

• Parades are held all over the world, promoting gays and their wish to be treated equal

• Rainbow flags, also called freedom flags, represent gay pride

• The different colors symbolize diversity

• Prominent actors like TR Knight face the day to day struggle with being openly gay.

• The prominence of gays in today’s society have created a better understanding of their views

•Even movies today are being made with main characters that a gay

• Gays struggle daily, while fighting for what they believe they have a right to

• Society should not discriminate against people due to their sexuality and how they choose to express it
