The Admission Brochure of the Gautam Buddha University for the Session 2020-21 offers around 100 programmes to the

prospective admission seekers, encompassing many new and sunrise disciplines of studies. Among these new and sunrise areas

of studies, the University has included programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Science, Railway Signaling &

RAMS, Molecular Medicines, Genomics & Genome Engineering etc. The University has also started three year BCA, MCA, three

year B.Com (Hons.), B.Sc. in Yoga, B.A (Hons.) in some new subjects, B.A. (Hons.) in Buddhist Studies etc. to cater the

needs of students, desirous to pursue such programmes in Computer Science & Engineering, Commerce, Social Sciences and

Humanities. The University also proposes to diversify the teaching -learning approaches to include several new and emerging

pedagogical including transformational pedagogies, problem based learning, project based learning, simulation etc.

The University endeavours to employ, a variety interventions to enhance employability of the passing out students through several

student development programmes. The overall thrust of the university is to enhance quality and innovativeness in teaching-

learning and research, integrate our national ethos in teaching and endeavour to ingrain the ethics and values in the conduct and

1.0 ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Gautam Buddha University was established under the UttarPradesh Gautam Buddha University Act, 2002 (U.P. Act No.(9) of 2002), and came into existence in the year 2008. TheUniversity is recognized by UGC under section 2(f) and 12(B)of UGC Act, 1956 and is accredited by NAAC. The Universityenvisions to integrate our National Ethos, Rich Heritage andthe Ancient Wisdom with the education and research toinvoke high standards of quality and innovativeness to be atpar with international benchmarks. The mission of theUniversity is to generate a community of scholars who canmanage continuity and change; to seek and incorporate thebest practices in teaching and learning from around theworld; to inculcate in the learners due appreciation forethical, ecological and economic issues of knowledge; toprovide knowledge based scientific solutions to satisfy theneeds of society and industry; to ensure an academicenvironment that guarantees avenues for all historicallyexcluded sections of the society. The University is a worldclass centre for excellence in the field to Research andAcademics.

2.0 THE CAMPUS

Gautam Buddha University has 455 acres of lush greencampus with the builtup area of 8,000,000 sq.ft at GreaterNoida. The fully residential campus is modelled in line withthe best institutions of higher learning across the globe. Thedesign of the Gautam Buddha University is an integration ofbuildings, landscape, art, sculpture, and environment. Thefeatures of infrastructure such as natural lighting, ventilation,traditional elements like lattices, sunshades and domes,allows to establish a strong link with the natural environment.All these features complement each other and give a uniqueidentity to the campus.

The University has a world class infrastructure in terms of itsbuildings of Eight Schools of learning with auditorium andconference facilities, Administrative Block, Central Library, University Auditorium with 3000 seating capacity, Sports Complexes, Health Care Centre, Hostels, InternationalConvention Centre and a well equipped Guest House.Excellent internal roads, gardens, illuminated campus, state-of-the-art IT enabled class-rooms, laboratories and otheramenities, well maintained hostel buildings make theUniversity an incredible place for study. A rich library facilitywith well stacked books, journals, magazines, separatereading and reference sections and modern e-resources withfree-access to a large number of e-journals and e-booksmakes it a very significant source of learning. MahamayaShanti Sarovar, a beautiful water body spread over 1 lac sq.ft. area is in the midst of the Schools of the University. Entirecampus is equipped with Wi-Fi facility of 1GBPS InternetSpeed with 24 hours power backup.

2.1 HOSTELS

There are 12 boys’ and 6 girls’ hostels which are equipped with facilities like internet,

common rooms, separate T.V. and visitor's rooms, play courtsof table tennis, reading rooms, first aid facility, indoor gamesfacility, gymnasium, badminton court, volleyball court,basketball court etc.

For single & tripleoccupancy

The University also providesaccommodation to Married Research Scholars Hostel (MRSH)for full time Ph.D. Scholars. It consists of two-roomapartments with all necessary infrastructure. All the hostelsare supported by solar water heating systems which ensuresupply of hot-water during winters.

2.2 CENTRAL COMPUTER CENTER (CCC)

The Central Computer Center is a central facility that catersto the computing needs of faculties, staffs and students. Thefacility operates 24 X 7 round the year. CCC is serving as the hub for computer related services on the campus. Thecomputer centre is well equipped with advanced computersalong with all the necessary peripherals as well as requisitesoftwares. The Central Computer Centre has its own powerbackup.

Linux/Windows desktops are provided in all class rooms ofdifferent schools labs for conducting E-learning andinteractive lab sessions during classes. The CCC networkbackbone is on Fibre Optic, which connects the computercentre, Schools of Learning and administrative offices. Theaccess network is structured UTP network using 10/100 Mbpsswitches. University has 1Gbps bandwidth for Internetconnectivity from National Knowledge Network (NKN).

CCC provides easily accessible and excellent computational facilities to the faculty and students with over 870 computers catering to their academic, research and recrea--tional requirements.

Bodhisattva Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Pustakalaya (CentralLibrary) is situated at the centre of the Gautam BuddhaUniversity Campus, which symbolises the Crown of Buddhaand the Eight Paths of learning in Buddhist Tradition andPractices. The library building is a structural marvel designedwith inspirational inputs from the Buddhist Traditions ofLearning. It is tallest building in the campus and is a mark oftribute to the Buddha. The library spread in approx.1.78 lacs sqft. having five storeys, which support theUniversity’s mission to contribute to society through its pursuitof education, learning and research at the highest levels ofexcellence.

The Central Library supports the University’s mission tocontribute to society through its pursuit of education, learningand research at the highest levels of excellence. It is the soulof academic and research activities of the University. It hashuge volumes of books and e-journals which cover thedisciplines of Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Humanities, Social Sciences, Buddhist Studies and other related areas. The libraryis well-equipped with modern facilities, spacious stack halls,2000-seating capacity reading hall, reference sections, catalogue area, multiple self supporting loaning counters, andis managed by professionals. The Central Library is a fully automated with libsys and RFID systems.

2.4 EXAMINATION CELL

The University has a well established examination cell toconduct examinations, to prepare results and to maintain all theacademic records of the students. All programs of the Universityfollow Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and students areexamined on semester basis.

The University follows a 10-point grading system. The systemworks as:

At University, students have to complete the programs in n+2(n+3 for SC & ST students) years, where ‘n’ is the duration(number of year) of a particular program. To be promoted tonext academic year, student must score a minimum YCGPA of4.0 (CGPA of two semesters of particular academic year). Aminimum of 75% attendance in each course is mandatory forthe student to appear in the End Semester Examination.

2.5 PLANNING & RESEARCH CELL

The office of the Dean Planning & Research looks after variousResearch Projects which are being sponsored by differentfunding agencies like Department of Biotechnology (DBT),Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Council ofScientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Science& Technology (DST), Indian Council of Social ScienceResearch (ICSSR), etc. These projects are ongoing at differentstages of growth and development. They are at variousSchools of the University. All of these taken to gather amountto tune of approximately Rs. 60000000 (Six crore). A numberof Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Senior Research Fellow(SRF), Research Associate and Research Assistant (RA) andPrincipal Investigator (PI) under Women Scientist Scheme-DST are also working in different projects under themeticulous supervision and mentorship of our esteemedfaculty members. We also encourage different otherfellowships like Ramanujan Fellowship of Department ofScience and Technology under the scheme for brilliant IndianScientist and engineers from outside India to take up scientificresearch positions in India, those Indian Scientist/Engineerswho want to return to India from abroad

The University has state of the art laboratories in all the Schools apart from well equipped Computer Centre. The office of theDean Planning and Research also looks after the Research workbeing carried out by the Research scholars of different Schoolsfor the award of the Ph.D degree. Apart from the above,registration for copy rights and patents are also been taken careof by this office. Four (4) copy rights and one (1) patent havebeen granted, and Ten (10) patents have been filed under patentlaw. A number of MoUs with different organizations have also been signed by the University.

2.6 NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

The University started community services under the NationalService Scheme (NSS) in 2015. The University currently hasthree Units of NSS. Each unit consists of 100 volunteers withtwo programme officers in each units. Various activities havebeen carried out under the scheme such as: Clean Campus Green Campus, Environmental Sustainability, ClothsDistribution among needy, Spread Awareness Programmes onvarious Social and Political issues, Plantation and Adoption ofPlant, Shram Daan, visits to villages for health awarenesscampaigns through Nukkad Natak, Clean campus drive andswachchta pakhwada, voter awareness programmes, variouswelfare drives for slums etc.

Activities like Holi celebration with rural poor children, T-shirtdistribution among girls living in slums, voter awareness rally,street play (nukkad natak), oath taking ceremony for free andfair voting, watering on plants and removal of unwantedplants from green area etc., help in development of a senseof social and civil responsibilities among Youth who will bethe milestones of our Nation tomorrow.

2.7 NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)

In its endeavour to inculcate courage, team-spirit andleadership amongst students, Gautam Buddha Universityencourages students to participate in extra-curricularactivities under the aegis of NCC. The University enrols bothboys and girl students in the senior division of NCC. Currently, the University has 2 boys (40 UP Bn NCC - Secunderabad, 37UP Bn NCC - Ghaziabad) and 1 girl (31 UP (Girls) Bn NCC, Gr.Noida) platoon which enrols 50 students each for Senior-Division NCC training leading to ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates.

2.9 THE CULTURAL COUNCIL

The Cultural Council promotes co-curricular and cultural activities among the students through its vide varieties of events though out the year to inculcate the values of our ancient wisdom and cultural heritage. University focuses on the all round development of its students hence to strike a balance between books, syllabus and curriculum, co-curricular activities are incorporated to enhance the creative, intellectual, moral, social and cultural development of the student.

Throughout the year various cultural events are organised bydifferent clubs of the Cultural Council where students get theopportunity to develop and exhibit their skills and non-academic abilities. University’s annual cultural event‘Abhivyanjana’ intends to add wings to intellect, imagery, andcreativity of our students. Mahatama Jyotiba Phule Dhyan Kendra, the Meditation Centre is designed to visually tie the earth with the sky when viewed in the horizon. It is inspired by the Stupaarchitecture (a symbolism of Buddhist Stupa), is a learningand retreat centre which gives an experience of the power ofpeace and inner silence to the students of the Universitybesides their regular curriculum. The centre aims to create acommunity around the pursuit of living a more mindful,reflective and skillful life. It focuses to develop the meditationskills of its members and foster discussion of matters ofpractical importance. Personality trait and mindfulness areassociated in a way to understand ourselves and thosearound us and consequentially be able to demonstrate skills torespond to the society peacefully. These skills could be, forexample, working with others, solving problems, decisionmaking adapting to change etc.

The centre organizes seminars, lectures and experientialworkshops on Buddhist meditation, positive values, stress freeliving and self management. It aims to help the residents ofthe campus, in recognizing their own inherent qualities andrecollect their inner most potential. The meditation centrefacilitates the experience of the inner self through silence. Thepurpose of meditation is the cultivation of positive states ofmind, conducive to peace and well-being, and it helpsovercome negative habits of minds. The course is a chance forthe students to centre themselves with a calm mind anddevelop clarity of perception, a sense of healing and the abilityto connect to an inner source of energy.

2.11 HEALTH CARE CENTRE

The multifarious medical needs of the Campus residentsincluding students, faculty, staff members and theirdependents are met by the University Dispensary. TheDispensary is headed by an HoD (Dispensary) with a teamof full time and visiting Medical professionals. Patientsregistered at the reception are served on first come firstserve basis, however out of turn consultation is provided incase of emergency and for senior citizens. In OPD, clinicalconsultation is provided to the patients which also includestaking patients clinical history, clinical examination, diagnosis,henceforth diagnosis and prescription are provided topatients and laboratory test suggested, if required. OPDfacility has a waiting hall with chairs, public utilities likedrinking water and toilets. Sub waiting areas are available infront of individual consultation rooms. Wheel Chairs andattendants are there to help sick patients. Other facilitiesinclude Ward/Indoor facility, Minor OT, Physiotherapy,

For 'Barrier Free Access'the University has constructed ramps at all Schools/Departments, administrative building, central library, hostelsand shopping complex. There is a facility of lifts in all theSchools, administrative building, and central library withseparate wash room facility in all the School buildings.

2.14 TRANSPORT FACILITY

GBU is a residential campus for students, faculty and staff.There is availability of University bus service to provide needbased transport facility for educational tours, seminars andconferences etc. The roads layout plan in entire campus is incirculation system which keeps the complete vehicularmovement restricted to the periphery of the campus allowingfor a completely pedestrian-friendly environment. Registration fee is onetime non-refundable fee, and nota part of academic fee. It will be compulsory for all Courses/Programmes. This is not refundable.In case, newly admitted candidate apply for change or switchover to another programme, he/she may not have todeposit registration fee again. However, this flexibility ofadjustment of registration fee is permissible for only one time. Security Fee (Caution Money) of Rupees Ten Thousand onlywill be charged for all Programmes. This is refundableafter submission of no dues certificate from all Departmentsthrough School’s Dean. Security Fee (Caution Money) is not applicable to Foreign/International Students.

The First Year Students will be allotted Triple Seatedaccommodation till the availability of the same. Thereafter single seated rooms may be allotted subject to theavailability of such accommodation in the university hostel. Incase of non-availability of both Triple seated and singleseated rooms, student shall have to reside outside theUniversity campus till the room(s) for allotment are available.However, as and when the room/s is/are available, students willhave to shift in the hostel accommodation of the University. Theuniversity is residential university, wherein its Act prescribes forresiding in the hostel. So the students shall have to stay in the hostel by paying the hostel & mess fees.Hostel exemption would not ordinarily be allowed. Only inexceptional circumstances can it be allowed on case tocase basis by the competent authority. However exemptionwill be granted for married students or having any cronicailment requiring regular therapy with ongoinghospitalization, continuously or intermittently. During theinternship of the student exemption to be given for messcharges only, when student is ongoing for internship outsideof the campus.

Fee would be liable to change from time to time, as determined by the Fee Review Committee.

The fee structure shall be decided or may be revised by thecompetent authority of the University from time to time.Academic Fee and Hostel Fees are same for the ForeignNationals from SAARC and ASEAN Nations and IndiaNationals. In addition to the above academic fees asmentioned in Table 4.1.

A separate Registration fee will be charged from Inter-national Students which is as under:

Foreign Nationals of SAARC and ASEAN Countries:One time registration fee of US $ 500 (or equivalent inIndian Currency as per the prevailing exchange rate) for Non-Technical and/or Non-Professional Programmes of all theSchools, as the case may be. Whereas, US $ 1000 (orequivalent in Indian Currency as per the prevailing exchangerate) for Technical and/or Professional Programmes of all theSchools, as the case may be.

International Students of other than SAARC andASEAN Countries: One time registration fee of US $700 (or equivalent in Indian Currency as per the prevailingexchange rate) for Non-Technical and/or Non-ProfessionalProgrammes of all the Schools, as the case may be. Whereas,US $ 1500 (or equivalent in Indian Currency as per theprevailing exchange rate) for Technical and/or ProfessionalProgrammes of all the Schools, as the case may be.

Once the hostel is allotted then hostel fee for the semestershall not be refunded in case of withdrawal of admission.Mess fee shall be refunded to all the students on pro rata basis.The last date of seeking admissions, as communicated in theprovisional admission letter shall be treated as the final dateof admission.

6.0 RESERVATION/RELAXATION POLICY

The reservation and relaxation policy as per Uttar Pradesh Government and Gautam Buddha University rules.The sports person providing evidence of participation inNational / International level events may be provided 5%relaxation in respective qualifying examination.

7.0 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Gautam Buddha University – Entrance Test (GBU-ET 2020-21) will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). It isconducted for the admissions in Undergraduate, Postgraduateand Doctoral programmes for the academic session 2020-21.The Number of seats in all the programmes may beincreased or decreased.

Qualifying exam only from Government recognized National/International bodies/National level board(s)/State level board(s) shall be considered for admission in various programmesof the University.

A separate Application Form has to be filled by thecandidate for each programme(s).

The entrance test will be common for all B.Tech., IntegratedB.Tech-M.Tech (CSE and ECE) and Integrated B.Tech-M.Tech(Biotech.)/ MBA programmes in SoE, SoICT, SoVSAS & SoBTas per the eligibility criteria applicable to a particular branch/programme. The branch/programme allocation will be based on the choices filled by the candidates during the online counselling as per merit, subject to meeting the desiredeligibility criteria and provided that he/she has applied for thesame as per applicable GBU norms.

Students may be considered for branch upgradation aftercompletion of first year of 4-year degree programme subject toavailability of vacant seats.

The entrance test will be common for all PG programmes ofSoM. The programme will be allotted according to the candidate's choices filled at the time of online counselling.Separate merit list will be prepared for each programme.

A self attested copy of valid score(s), as applicable, will berequired at the time of interview/counselling for admission.The admission in the programme shall be provisional untilthe candidate furnishes all the required documents, feeand testimonials, etc. including final result of the qualifyingexamination. The University reserves the right to cancelthe admission of student(s) at any point of time if there isany discrepancy found in the eligibility of his/hercandidature as per eligibility criteria laid down in theAdmission Brochure 2020-21.The candidate appearing in qualifying examination may alsoapply. However, the candidate should have completed allthe requirements (theory/practical and viva- voce etc.) ofthe award of qualifying examination and submit the finalresult of the qualifying examination latest by 30thSeptember 2020, and meet the eligibility criteria as laiddown in the Admission Brochure 2020-21. Non-fulfilment ofthis condition will automatically result in the cancellationof the provisional admission. Result awaitingcandidates should not have any back papers inprevious years. Such candidates may take admission solelyon their own risk.

The Minimum number of students to run any programme isatleast 15 (Fifteen) or 50% of number of seats advertised,whichever is lower. However, the Competent Authority of theUniversity will take the final decision in this regard.The Counselling/Interview schedule will be available on GBU website in due course of time. The Candidates will be solelyresponsible for not reporting on the scheduled counselling/Interview date and time.

7.1 For Candidates of M.Phil./Ph.D.

Abbreviations: FT-Full Time, WP- Working Professional.Ph.D. applicants must be required to submit a ResearchProposal in approx. 1500 words as per the given area ofresearch. In the title page of the Ph.D. proposal, thediscipline and the mode of admission (Full Time/Workingprofessional) should be specified. They may also submit thelist of publications or other research credentials, if any.The candidate appearing in qualifying examination may alsoapply, however, M.Phil./Ph.D. students will be required toproduce the proof of having acquired the minimumprescribed qualifications at the time of interview.University recognizes CA & CS qualifications (along withgraduation degree) as equivalent to post graduation for the

The candidate(s) is/are also required to produce a letter ofconsent from his/her organization, for providingsufficient facilities and time for completing the coursework and conducting the research, at the time ofinterview foradmission.

• A weightage of 70% to the entrance test and 30% to the performance in the interview/viva voce shallbe given for selection of candidates in M.Phil./Ph.D.Programmes (except M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology).The criteria for admission to M.Phil.(ClinicalPsychology) programme shall be as per RCI norms.

Candidates are required to opt for maximum three centres astheir preferred choice centre for entrance test. In case of nothaving desired number of candidates in any of the optedCentres, the University shall reserve the right to allocate anyone of the opted Test Centre by the candidate irrespective ofthe preference indicated by him/her on the Application Formwithout assigning any reason.

8.0 CENTRES FOR ENTRANCE TEST

GBU-ET 2020-21 (CBT)

The Entrance Test for M.Phil/Ph.D. Programmes shall bequalifying with qualifying marks as 50% for candidatesbelonging to General and OBC category (45 % for SC/ST) asper UGC Guidelines.

The Entrance Test shall be qualifying with qualifying marksas 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.
