Louis J. Guillette, Jr. is Distinguished Professor of Biology atthe University of Florida and Professor of the Howard HughesMedical Institute. He received his doctorate in ComparativeReproductive Biology from the University of Colorado @ Boulderin 1981. He is an award-winning teacher of Biology having beenawarded several of University of Florida’s highest faculty honors– Teacher Scholar of the Year and Distinguished AlumniProfessor. He is internationally recognized for his researchexamining environmental contaminants as inducers of birthdefects in wildlife – especially the alligator. His work has beenfeatured in the international media (BBC, NHK, ABC, CBC, PBS).Wildlife and landscape photography is a passion with most of hiswork donated to educational or non-governmental environmentaland health organizations.
