THE CITY With a population in excess of 250,000 inhabitants, Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark. It was founded around the year 900, at the time when the Vikings ruled the country. educational institutions located in the area. The city hosts more than 30,000 students of higher education, making Aarhus a young and vibrant city. Aarhus combines a country setting with all the advantages of city living. Situated on the waterfront, it is never far to sunlit beaches or refreshing green woods. In addition, Aarhus offers all the usual city comforts, such as restaurants, cafes, parks and gardens, theatres, art galleries, shopping centers, and nightclubs. APPLICATION

To become an exchange student at Aarhus University, you need to fill in an online application form. If you wish to apply for housing through the International Centre, you need to fill in the housing section within the online application form. Further

instructions follow below. We recommend that you use the Internet Explorer web browser to complete the online application as many applicants have experienced problems when using other web browsers such as Firefox or Safari.

1. Self-service system and Application form In order to gain access to the online application form you must create an account in the Aarhus University self-service system. You will find directions on creating a self-service account here.

*Before you create your self-service account and start your application process please read the application instructions on this page carefully, including the relevant Online application instructions under step 2 and the document regarding courses under step 3.

Once you have created a self-service account and read all the instructions below you are ready to start filling in the online application form to become an exchange student at AU.Create your self -service account and Apply online here. In your self-service account you will have access to the form Application form for exchange students, incl. housing application. This is the application form you must fill in order to apply for admission to Aarhus University.

2. Choose the correct campus The application procedures vary slightly from campus to campus so please make sure to select the instructions that relate to the campus you wish to apply to. You can find instructions on how to choose the correct campus in the document below under step 3. Choosing your courses.

3. Choosing your courses Please carefully read the instructions given in this document before selecting courses and filling in the study plan in the online application form. Please do not attempt to choose courses before reading the instructions. Student applying to Aarhus School of Business will receive directions on how to choose courses separately after admission to Aarhus University.

4. Consider housing options Familiarize yourself with the AU housing service and decide whether you wish to apply for housing through the International Centre or if you prefer to find housing on your own. Students wishing to apply for housing through the International Centre will do so in the application form Application form for exchange students, incl. housing

Official transcript of records from your home university (must be in pdf format)

Your transcript of records is a list of grades from courses you have completed at your home university. Please note that your application cannot be submitted until you have uploaded your transcript of records.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

As an exchange student at Aarhus University, you come to follow courses and are expected to participate actively in class discussions, group and project work. You must also be able to write academic papers and take written exams. Therefore, you must have a high level of English proficiency. This means that you are expected to have English language qualifications comparable to the English B level from the Danish upper secondary school (gymnasium). International qualifications comparable to this level are for example:

TOEFL test results of at least 560 (paper based test) or 83 (internet based test) IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.5 points C1 level obtained by examination from a CEFR-validated English language course 

Since you are expected to have the appropriate English skills, you should not include language documents in your applications. However, Aarhus University reserves the right to take action if students do not comply with the required language skills.

HOUSING IC Housing GuaranteeThe IC guarantees a housing offer for all exchange students (including Erasmus Mundus and executive MBA students) who submit their application by the stated deadline. Once you have been assigned accommodation, you will receive an email with further information. You will be asked to visit the online Self-Service website where you need to confirm that you accept the offered lease. You can find more practical information about your housing – rent, distance to the University, shared facilities, location, etc. – on the website of the International Centre.

Depending on the type of housing assigned to you, you will either have to pay the first months

rent and deposit shortly after arrival or, in case you have been assigned a room to sublet, to transfer the rent and deposit to your landlord before arrival. What applies to you will be made clear by email. Please read the instructions regarding housing:http://www.au.dk/exchange

INSURANCE If you plan to stay in Denmark for less than three months, you should purchase private health insurance to cover any medical treatment that you might require during your stay. The Danish Health Security Act covers foreign students staying for more than three months.

This means that once you have received your yellow Health Insurance Card, showing your name, address and personal registration number (CPR number), you will be allowed to receive free medical treatment in clinics and hospitals. However, please note that this does not cover the costs of medical evacuation back to your home country, emergency repatriation and personal liability. For this reason, we encourage you to purchase travel insurance as

well.
