CHAPTER ONE
Kira watches her mother’s soul pass away
She was thinking about how she would live
Kira watched other souls pass away of other families
She thought about the story her mother told her about her
birth
She returned to the village
Kira meets Matt, a boy from the Fen, and talks about the
person who hates her, Vandara
CHAPTER TWO
A woman steals Kira’s vegetables from her garden
Vandara claims Kira’s garden as her property
They decide to resolve this conflict at the council of
guardians
She thought about her decision
CHAPTER THREE
A messenger came to get Kira and take her to the
Council Edifice
The Council Edifice was only spoken of in the Ruin
Song
Kira had to make the decision of picking a
defender or defending herself and picked a defender
CHAPTER FOUR
Her defender’s name is Jamison
Jamison said each accusation and an amendment to
go against it
She went outside to meet Matt
The accusations began and Kira thought about her
mother and her art of dyes
CHAPTER FIVE
They brought in the Singer’s Robe
They talk about how Katrina was a skilled worker
Kira is assigned to complete and replenish the
Singer’s Robe
Matt was waiting outside excited
Camilla fell down and broke her arm
CHAPTER SIX
Matt was waiting by the steps of the Council Edifice as he
promised
He gave Kira’s belongings to her
Jamison showed Kira to her quarters and Matt and his dog came
along
Jamison also told her that Thomas the carver lives down the hall
She got confused with things in her room
She had a very big meal
CHAPTER SEVEN
Thomas and Kira meet and they talk about the life
in the Council Edifice
Jamison came to the room and talked with her
She will be meeting Annabella tomorrow
CHAPTER EIGHT
Matt and his dog went with her
It was a long path
They meet Annabella
Kira learned some colors
CHAPTER NINE
Kira started making a rhythm for colors
Thomas and Kira decide to write her colors
She went out to look at the village life
As she learned some colors she added to the writing of Thomas’s list
Thomas and Kira tell each other what their main priority is
She laid out the Singer’s Robe and learned the history from the
pictures that the colors make
The hunt starts and Kira and Thomas see Matt there and go to stop him
CHAPTER TEN
They go through the crowd and a man claimed
Kira as the trophy
They spotted Matt and gave him a wash
Kira and Thomas discuss about the talismans’
special powers
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Kira runs into Annabella’s cot
She said that a beast followed her along the path
and Annabella’s reply was “There be no beasts.”
Kira kept on repeating that she saw a beast
She asked Thomas if he has seen beasts
CHAPTER TWELVE
Kira again recognized the story of the Robe
Thomas heard the sound again and Kira, him, Matt
and his dog go to investigate the sound
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
They went downstairs and heard a child and
Jamison speaking and Jamison was harsh
Matt says that her name is Jo and was a great
singer
Matt told the story about how Jo became an orphan
Jamison came to Kira’s room and talked about the
path
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
The people at the weaving shed miss Kira a lot
Kira asked Marlena about a girl named Jo
Matt said Annabella died and saw Jamison with
her
Kira goes the first floor in the Council Edifice and
meets Jo
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
They set up a dyeing-place for Kira
Thomas and Kira discuss about Jo
They called themselves artists
They called their talismans knowledges
Kira and Thomas plan to see Jo at night
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Kira and Thomas take their talismans to the first
four
They talk to Jo and tell her in an emergency to hit
the roof
Kira thought about what Jo said
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Kira and Thomas take a walk to the Fen so they
can see where Matt and Jo lived
Kira asks people about where Matt was
Kira and Thomas went to Matt’s cott and asked
where he is
Matt’s brother told the whole story of what Matt
did
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Jo wanted to make a song for Kira
Kira finished the Robe and discussed the pictures
with Jamison
CHAPTER NINETEEN
It was the day of the Gathering
The announcer started the Gathering and
announced each person important in this event
The Singer starts the song
CHAPTER TWENTY
Kira followed the pictures of the Robe as the song
went on
She saw Matt in the back
Kira and Thomas met Matt and Matt said he found
blue
They left Matt in Thomas’s room
The song was finally finished
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
Matt showed Kira the “the big giftie”
The gift was a man with a shirt with blue
The man brought a bag with woad seeds
The man’s name is Christopher and is Kira’s father
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Christopher began to tell the story of how he
almost died
Kira told how she had a twisted leg and Katrina
defeated the people who wanted Kira dead
She also told her father that Jamison was her
defender and her father said Jamison was the person
who attempted to kill him
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
Kira watered the plants
Kira saw the Singer chained
Kira’s father left her some scraps of cloth he found
and then left
