Introduction

• Compress Natural Gas (CNG) & Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) are common gases used in home & automobiles.

• Chemically, they are formed with the derivatives of Methane, Butane & Propane.

• Although they are very user friendly & less pollutants, they are hazardous if leakage occurs by any accident.

Danger Zones

• In homes & automobiles, these gases are stored in one place and used at other place. They are often carried using pipelines.

• These pipelines are made up of rubber or have joints & bends. Over years these points wear out & gas leakage occurs.

Accidents Spots• These gases have Lower Explosive

Limit. These means if the amount of Gas in the air increases more than certain percentage, the complete air becomes flammable. A slight spark by accident, will blow off everything.

• Where these Gases are used, sparks are too common. E.g. in automobile engine there is a spark plug generating a spark. In home, gas is used in kitchen where the flame is common.

How to Detect Leakage?• Leakage in Gas is

detected using a Gas Sensor.

• These Sensors are pre-heated for 2.5 minutes.

• Their resistance inversely changes with the amount of gas, present in air.

• By monitoring the resistance, one can find out the gas leakage in air.

Why to Use Gas Leakage Detector Alarm System from

Kaihatsu?

Salient Features and Comparison with other products in Market.

(All points may not be applicable to all products available in market)

Microcontroller Driven – Full Digital

• Leakage detection level in other products is done

using analogue resistance comparison by adjusting variable resistor

(potentiometer or trim pot) Their value changes over time period & due to

environmental effects.• Hence, Leakage level shifts over the period of

use.

• Kaihatsu system does not use any analogue

values. The comparison values are stored in

digital memory of microcontroller.

• Hence, no deteoretion of values over time and

no environmental effect.

• Effect is always correct leakage level detection

over any time frame.

Accurate at all Temperature

• As one can see from the graph in slide 5, the

leakage level shifts with the ambient temperature.

• In other products this shift is not accounted for.

• Hence the product works over restricted

temperature range.

• Kaihatsu system used a thermister to detect

ambient temperature. One thermister per

sensor compensating ambient temperature

effect.• Effect is always correct

leakage level detection over any temperature

range from -100C to +650C.

Sensor Failure Detection

• Once in million, there may be a chance that the sensor, heater

in sensor or thermister may fail.

• In other products there is no failure detection system.

• Under this condition, even if there is a leakage, it will not be detected & a Cates trophy can

occur.• Remember Boeing theory,

major accidents are due to two systems failure at same time.

• Kaihatsu system detects any failure in sensor or heater in

sensor or thermister.• This gives a warning, that

although the case may be once a million, the detection

system is incompetent to detect the leakage.

• Effect is the user is on alert when the detection system fails and can go for repairs

or replacement.

Early Leakage Warning

• Most of the product in the market has only one detection

level. 5% of Lower Explosive Limit.

• Most of the cases leakage does not occur immediately.

• Due to slow wearing of tubes, a small leakage starts and

then gradually reaches to the 5% level.

• In other products, this gradual increase is not detected and

suddenly one fine day, the gas system stops.

• Kaihatsu system detects leakage level in Five steps.

1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and then 5%.

• Therefore in most of the cases, leakage is detected

earlier. • Effect is the user can take

corrective measures when he or she has a time to

attend and the automobile or home gas supply does not stop suddenly on one fine (or shall we call bad) day!

Delayed Gas Supply Cut Off

• Most of the product in the market immediately cut off the

gas supply as soon as the leakage level is reached.

• Imagine you are driving a car on the middle of the highway,

leakage occurs and the car gas supply is cut off. A fetal

accident can take place due to sudden stoppage of car.

• These accidents could be more dangerous than gas

explosion itself!

• Kaihatsu system detects leakage level. If the leakage

level reaches 5% of Lower Explosive Limit, it starts

harsh audio alarm for indication.

• It then allows 2.5 minutes before it actually cuts off the

gas supply.• Effect is the user can safely

pull over the car by the side of the road, stop the engine

without causing any dangerous situation on

highway.

Plug & Play Duel Optional Sensor

• Most of the product in the market has only one sensor.• May a times one needs to

detect a leakage at two places. E.g. in automobiles one sensor

is in main unit in engine & other unit near gas cylinder in

dickey. Or in home main unit at kitchen & other unit at storage

room where cylinders are stored.

• This feature is not available in most of the other products.

One needs to purchase two units.

• Kaihatsu system has additional sensor input unit.

• This is a full plug & play system. Means second

sensor can be purchased any time and can be just

connected to system without any change or configuration

adjustment. • Best part is, second sensor

comes with thermister so two sensors can work at

different temperatures. Both sensors has failure detection systems

Car or Home Changeable Design

• Most of the products in the market can be used either for home

or for cars.

• Kaihatsu system has a unique design that can be changed

from home use to car use & vice Vesa

any time, without need of any

technical expertise.

Mechanical

• Most of the products in the market use

normal plastic enclosure and normal

wires.

• Kaihatsu system uses industrial

grade enclosures and fire retardant

wires for better safety.
