Gary Major was a standout basketball player for Revere and also competed in baseball. He was a three year letter in basketball winner selected two times to All Suburban, All District Teams and All Northeastern Ohio Team his senior year. The teams he played on went 55-9 (the 9 losses were by a total of 12 points). The team tallied back-to-back 18-3 seasons, 19-3 and Suburban League Championships all three years. His junior year he scored 206 points while his senior year he scored 336 points and 260 rebounds. In baseball, he lettered three years and the team won the Suburban League title his senior year. Gary received a basketball scholarship to Duquesne University where he let- tered 4 years and started every game. His senior year he served as Co-Captain, averaging 7.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. His 1968-1969 team was re- cently inducted into the Duquesne Sports Hall of Fame. This team finished No. 9 in the nation (AP) qualifying for the NCAA Tournament where they lost to North Carolina by 1 point in the Eastern Regional Semifinal. He also played in the first Aloha Classic (North, South, East, and West) All Star Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii. The summer of 1969 he played on a U.S. State Department All Star Team that toured 6 countries in North Africa and Eastern Europe. He was drafted in the 9 th round (127 th pick) in the 1969 NBA draft by the Baltimore Bullets while also being drafted by the ABA's Kentucky Colonels and chose to sign with them. He was eventually released and played with Akron Goodyear Wingfoots Team of the National Industrial AAU Basketball League (NIBL) for a number of years. Gary Major was a standout basketball player for Revere and also competed

in baseball. He was a three year letter in basketball winner selected two times to
