Materials Needed
41 assorted print charm squares (5x5 inches)
40 solid white/cream charm squares (5x5 inches)
¼ yard green print (border 1)
¼ yard solid red (border 2)
¼ yard solid white/cream (border 2)
2 yards floral print (border 3 and binding)
3 ¼ yards of backing fabric
Quilt batting
Special Notes
All seams are 1/4 inch
Assume width of fabric = 42 inches
WOF = Width of Fabric
Press seams as indicated

Cutting Instructions
Border 1
Green print: Cut 5 strips that are 1.5 inches wide x width of fabric (WOF)
Sub cut 2 WOF strips to measure 1.5 x 41 inches long
Leave 2 WOF strips as is
From one WOF strip, cut 2 equal pieces that measure 1.5 x 10 inches each
Border 2
Solid white: Cut 2 strips that are 1.5 inches wide x 18.5 inches long
Solid red: Cut 2 strips that are 1.5 inches wide x 12 .75 inches long
Solid red: Cut 2 strips that are 1.5 inches wide x 14 inches long
Border 3 and Binding (refer to the cutting diagram below)
Cut binding first, using the width of fabric:
Floral print: Cut 6 strips that are 2.25 inches wide x WOF
Cut border second, using the length of the fabric:
Floral print: Cut 2 strips that are 5.25 inches wide x 48 inches long
Floral print: Cut 2 strips that are 5.25 inches wide x 57 inches long
Reminder: Your fabric is
folded in half so 2 lengthwise
cuts will yield 4 border strips!

Sewing Instructions:
Step 1: Sew 9 charm squares together in a row,
alternating a print and a solid as shown. Make 9
rows with 9 charm squares in each row, pressing
seams according to the diagram at the right.
Step 2: Sew all 9 rows together and then press
seams up or down, you get to choose!
This section should now measure 41 x 41 inches.
Border 1
Step 3: Sew a 1.5 x 41 inch green strip to the
left side of your quilt and a 1.5 inch strip to the
right side of your quilt. Press seams toward the
green fabric.
Step 4: Refer to diagram at right. Take one
green 1.5 x WOF strip and place it on your work
surface, right side up.
Take one green 1.5 x 10 inch strip and place it
on the 1.5 x WOF strip, right side down as
shown below.
Using a thin pencil, draw a diagonal line and sew
on this line. Trim the seam to 1/4 inch and
press seam open. Make two of these strips.

Border 2
Step 6: Sew a 1.5 x 12.75 solid red strip to the left side and to the right side of a 1.5 x 18.5 inch rectangle
as shown below. Press seams toward red. Make a total of 2 strips. When sewn together, each strip should
measure 1.5 x 43.5 inches.
Step 5: Refer to diagram at right. Take one strip
created in Step 4 and determine where you would
like to place the diagonal seam line. Sew this strip to
the top of your quilt.
Cut off the extra fabric on the left and the right side.
Repeat this process for the bottom of your quilt.
Step 7: Refer to the diagram on the right. Sew
one strip created in Step 6 to the top of your quilt
and sew one strip to the bottom of your quilt. Press
seams toward green border.
Step 8: Sew a 1.5 x 14 solid red strip to the left side and to the right side of a 1.5 x 18.5 inch rectangle as
shown below. Press seams toward red. Make a total of 2 strips. When sewn together, each strip should
measure 1.5 x 46 inches.
Step 9: Refer to the diagram on the right. Sew
one strip created in Step 8 to the left side of your
quilt and sew one strip to the right side of your
quilt. Press seams toward green border.

Border 3
Step 10: Referring to the diagram on the right, sew
a 5.25 x 48 inch border strip to the left side of your
quilt and a 5.25 x 48 inch border strip to the right side
of your quilt.
You will have a slight amount of extra fabric on each
side. Cut off the extra fabric and press seams toward
the floral fabric.
Step 11: Referring to the diagram on the right, sew
a 5.25 x 57 inch border strip to the top of your quilt
and a 5.25 x 57 inch border strip to the bottom of
your quilt.
You will have a slight amount of extra fabric on each
side. Cut off the extra fabric and press seams toward
the floral fabric.
Step 12: Layer the backing fabric, batting and quilt top and quilt using your favorite technique(s). Trim off excess
batting and backing fabric.
Step 13: Piece the 2.25 inch binding strips together and attach to the quilt using your favorite binding technique.
Step 14: Enjoy your quilt!
