So then what areas do we work on and who do we work with… We engage with many different groups but these are our priorities at present (Physical Science a traditional and very important one > Earth Sciences and Earth Observation as well as Life Sciences growing > developing links with other eInfrastructures to provide joint service solutions to better serve the community) As well as pure connectivity we can also help projects on areas such as AAI, network monitoring and campus best practice. Users work with activities and tasks in the project as well as directly through our team


EUMETSAT Multicast of Environmental Data

• Meteorological data from EUMETSAT satellites need to be distributed to sites in Europe, Asia and USA.

• EUMETSAT requires network infrastructure that enables terrestrial multicast dissemination to end sites.

• EUMETSAT and GÉANT are running a two-year multicast prototype emulating operational scenarios from the EUMETSAT HQ in Darmstadt, using GÉANT infrastructure in Europe and global connectivity

• Agreement provides a Single Point of Contact to EUMETSAT for the related network services across GÉANT and the corresponding National Networks.

• A repository of resources to support funding, advocacy and the advancement of national and regional R&E networks

• To “make a case” towards users, funders and partners

• Developed among the regional R&E networks where NRENs are starting up to share experience and best practice

• Direct Europe/India R&E connectivity since 2006 (45Mbps, then upgraded several times!)

• TEIN project introduced GÉANT and NKN in 2010• Currently 2.5Gbit/s via TEIN4, being upgraded to 10 Gbit/s• NKN international connectivity to Europe gives further

collaboration opportunities• Exciting potential to further strengthen partnership to

bring EU/India user communities closer together

H2020 No jointly agreed mechanism is currently in place for co-funding Horizon 2020 research and innovation projects. Indian participation is welcomed in all Calls for Proposals of Horizon 2020.
