• Look closely and imagine

the objects as a structure

of some kind

• Visualize the image as an

animal, building whatever

you can see in the picture.

• Think about the elevations

and how it may look like in

three dimensions.

• Visualize the hidden views

and from perspective.

• Build your module.

• Decide on how the colors

and the tone of the

structures are going to be.

• Most importantly, have fun

doing it.

At first gaze I was thinking of all these objects

floating in space overlapping and underlapping each

other. Also I was thinking how should I build a model

out of this, and then I got an idea.

How about if I look at it as an architect, looking at an

object from the top perspective. So I starting giving

weights to the objects and elevated them in my

design. It was not as good as I imagined because I

have never built a model before.

What worked:

The approach

Colors especially the red

lips

What didn’t worked:

Base

Page 6: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio

Feedbacks:

• Aggressive

• Scary

• Use different glue

Building from

instruction was

quite hard. I

learned that by

numbering the

steps and using

bullet points

make it easier to

build.

Page 9: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio

I improved my second

instruction with

numbering and

diagrams. What I built

came out a little bit off

from the original one

because I felt my

partner didn’t have any

diagrams.

At first I was using the

charcoal as if I am using a

pencil. Maybe I was afraid

of making a mess and

dirty my clothes. With the

teacher’s instruction I

started drawing with

bigger arches, different

weights and thickness.

First of all,

We all come up with our own designs for the

project

Discussed which would work and wouldn’t

Give everyone a specific role however we can

contribute to others.

Come up with specific schedules

This design was inspired by the faces on the

wall.

My design is named Resting Leaf

Design of Folding

Exploring:

A place to sit and relax, have conversation,

provoke feelings and memories, sunlight and

shade, expanding material for roof when heated,

reserve natural look, project cost.

Considering section design for the seats

Page 21: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio
Page 22: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio

Since we weren’t placed in a specific area of construction, we went out and did a little bit of inspection of the wall. We measured up everything and decided on our site. It is really important to inspect the site because the construction may not satisfy what the environment requires or feel out of place.

Page 23: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio

We wanted to have a place in courtyard to encourage human activities since there are rarely any. We decided to make a seating area for people to sit because sometimes people would drag a chair outside to sit there. We wanted to have more meaningful design than just a seat for people to sit. We wanted to evoke feelings and memories. We developed strong concepts in our design such as skeleton of the hill which was there before, connection between human and natural materials recycling process and stairs behind the wall beaming through the wall etc…

Page 24: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio

We came up with a design on a software called Google SketchUp which helped us save a lot of time. Our professor provided us with the sketched up wall so all we had to do was design our project and measure it.

Page 25: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio

We already had each

section measured,

labeled and numbered

so we worked efficiently.

However we hit the wall

when the measurement

on the sketchup didn’t

meet with the original

curving wall. We had to

take off few sections

from our design and

measure things once

again. What they say “measure twice cut once”

Page 26: Ganod Gantushig's Final profolio

Good thing we learned the

safety rules and how to

work with tools especially

the electric tools. I manage

to injure(minor) myself

quite a few time. I don’t

know what would of

happened without learning

the safety rules. I get to

play around a lot of tools

which I had no experience

with. I learned a lot from

handsaw, drill, circular saw

and table saw etc..

The presentation went

smoothly in my opinion.

I learned a lot from the

critique:

• Our sectioning was very

simple (one layered)

• We could of have skin on

our project and thickness

• Weight and stability

• Explore underground, for

stability as well.

• I have to think and design

more complexly which

means multiple layers and

has deeper meaning.
