It was started in pune in 1894 that lokmanya tilak initiated the concept of
the “ Sarvajanik Ganeshostav ”
The communal celebration of the festival of lord ganesha .
The 10-days festival culminates in a carnival like procession along the busy
thoroughfares of the city .
Ganesh chaturthi was being celebrated as a public event in pune since the times of shivaji maharaj in (1630-1680),the founder of the maratha empire .
In 1893 , lokmanya tilak transformed the annual domestic festival into a large , well-organized public event .
Tilak recognized the wide appeal of the deity ganesha as “the god for everybody” , popularized ganesh chaturthi as a national festival .
Pune is known for its traditions and dhol-tasha is a one of them .
Pune ganeshostav is certianly not complete without dhol –tasha.

BATATYACHI SUKI BHAJI This is a typical Maharashtrian dish made with potatoes that are boiled and tempered with a simple seasoning of cumin seeds, garlic, ginger, green chillies and fresh coconut.
POORI poori or puri is a very popular indian fried bread.
CHAPATHIIts is made with wheat flour and bake on griddle .
KAKDICHI KOSHIMBIRIts is a popular maharashtrian cucumber salad and is also known as kakdi chi koshimbir .
GREEN CHUTNEY green chutney is made from fresh coriander leaves.
PAPAD Papad can be fried or roasted.
KURDAIKurdai is a tasty traditional marathi dish which belongs to papad category .
