• Besides GSD guidelines, our chapter uses disciplinary records to decide student membership

GSD EAP- Zamorano Honduras Chapter

June, 2014

Activities to celebrate our 25th anniversary (October 28th,

1989)

• A knowledge contest among students in our Alison Bixby

Stone elementary school. Contest will be managed by our

GSD student members and the award ceremony will be

executed during our Panamerican Fair on September 7th,

2014.

• Enrichment Grant Proposal. US$ 745 awarded by GSD

International, plus the matching funds US$745 pledged by

our University President will be used to cover expenses for

the Juan Carlos Rosas Research Competition. The winner

will be announced in November 2014.

GSD EAP- Zamorano Honduras Chapter

June, 2014

Activities to celebrate our 25th

anniversary (October 28th, 1989)

• Physics Fair Contest. To promote

students initiatives to solve problems

with technologies that apply physics

laws and principles learned in the

classroom. We sponsored the trophies

to the winners.

• Ambulance Fundraising. With the

group of GSD volunteers that help with

emergency calls for the ambulance, we

had a sale of pizza, earnings were

donated for a new ambulance.

• GSD International Distinguished Achievement in Agriculture Award Nomination submitted

• New Chapter Activity Award Ceremony On January 23, 2014, we

received the New Chapter Activity Award from the hand of Dr. Michael Brugger, GSD International Treasurer.

We had a dinner to celebrate his visit and the award.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES

LSU hosted the 2014 Region VII Science and Engineering Fair March

24-26. The LSU Gamma Sigma Delta Chapter presents First, Second

and Third Place awards for projects relating to agriculture. The LSU

Gamma Sigma Delta Chapter presents awards at this fair each year.

NEW ACTIVITIES

In an effort to learn more about agriculture in Louisiana, members of the LSU

Gamma Sigma Delta Chapter have started attending LSU AgCenter field days.

Ridge Research Station in Winnsboro.

NEW ACTIVITIES

Poultry production is a $1.9 billion dollar industry in Louisiana. LSU Gamma

Sigma Delta members toured the toured the meat processing plant and the

feed mill at Sanderson Farms poultry production operation to get a better

understanding what is involved in getting poultry from farm to table.

FUTURE PLANS

• Continue participating in on-campus events.

• Continue attending LSU AgCenter field days.

• Continue assisting with student research related

to agriculture.

• Hold a grant-writing workshop for graduate

students.

Gamma Sigma Delta members a better

understanding of the role agriculture plays in our

economy.
