Adventres
The Rogue is one
of eight rivers in
the United States
designated as wild and scenic. Its beauty will always be
protected for our visitors. Rafting and fishing are the
two favorite pastimes. Although there are 2 major runs
for the salmon and steelhead there are fish in the Rogue
all year round. You can catch Chinook and Coho salmon,
steelhead, brown trout, cutthroat, golden trout, catfish
and in the lower part of the river there are still sturgeon.
The Chinook and steelhead run in the fall and spring to
spawn upriver, and there is also a Coho run in the fall.
If you are planning a fishing trip, call the Galice Resort. They can put you in touch
with highly recommended Rogue River and Illinois River fishing outfitters. The
Resort is part of a guided referral system that can offer you the services of local
guides, shuttles, fishing tackle, Oregon fishing licenses and anything else you might
need to create a successful, memorable trip. They can organize fishing packages
from half-day to four-day trips on both the Rogue River and the Illinois River.
Spring Chinook Salmon
There is no better fighting or eating fish than the spring Chinook salmon. "Springers" return from the ocean to
the river from Mid-April until the end of July.
Fall Chinook and Coho Salmon
In recent years, the number of Fall-run Chinook and Coho salmon has increased dramatically, which provides
excellent fishing from late August through mid-November.
