Introducing to GALEP-5 GALEP-5 is a universal programmer for electronic devices, the fastest and most compact in its

class, a perfect example of technology ease to use, with a list of more than 15,000 devices

supported.

Technology

GALEP-5 is specifically designed to be of a very simple and speedy use. GALEP-5 has an

internal 200 MIPS ARM-9 microprocessor operated by Linux Embedded operating system,

which processes programming algorithms.

Pins management is carried out by a FPGA (user-programmable logic) that through a software

solution allows to program devices not otherwise usable.

La gestione dei pin e’ pilotata da una FPGA (user-programmable logic) che permette,

attraverso una soluzione puramente software, di programmare dispositivi che altrimenti non

sarebbero utilizzabili.

Using the programmer Connect GALEP-5 to your PC through the USB cable supplied in the kit. The white LED will blink

and then stay permanently on. Wait a few seconds until also the red LED is light up. Now you

can start up GALEP5 software.

How to select a component

You can access the Components Selection window in three different ways:

- By clicking on “Device Action” and then on “Device”

- By clicking on the tab “Devices” in the lower left

- By pressing the “F8” key on your keyboard

Now a complete list of components sorted by type (EPROM,

EEPROM, FLASH, MCU, etc.) is at your disposal. By clicking on

the flag “Show Manufacturer first” you can have the list sorted

by manufacturer (ACT, ACTRANS, etc.). This flag is just below

the list of components (see the detail in the picture beside to

identify it) .

How to work on the component

After having choose the component you can proceed with the

usual operations on the device. For the reading procedure you

simply have to press the “F6” key on your keyboard, or click the “Read F6” button on the lower

left of the software window or open the “Device Action” Menu and click on “Read”. A window

for the management of the components will be shown, representing the device inserted in the

programmer. Just click on the “Start” button to start the reading.

For the writing procedure you must first of all upload the file to edit into the buffer of the

device, by clicking on “File” and then on “Load”. Once the file is uploaded, you can simply write

it by pressing the “F3” key on your keyboard, or by clicking on the “Program F3” button in the

bottom left of the software window, or by opening the “Device Action” menu and clicking on

“Program”. A window for the management of the components will be shown, representing the device inserted in the programmer. Just click on the “Start” button to start the editing.
