Page 4: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

"Too many hypocrites!"

Page 5: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

All of us

Page 6: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

All of us

- None of us can live up to allWe proclaim and aspire to

Page 7: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

All of us

- Believers proclaim allegiance To a Perfect Word…

Page 8: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

All of us

We are all hypocrites

Page 9: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

All of us

We are all hypocrites

Intentional or Unintentional…Makes all the difference

Page 10: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Intentional…I hide who I am and Pretend I'm something else

When caught, I deny orRationalize, justify, blameshift

Page 11: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Christ is disgracedThe Holy Spirit is grieved

God's Name has been takenIn vain

Page 12: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Unintentional…I never proclaim to be perfect

I also don't justify or rationalizeWhen I fall, I humbly confess

Page 13: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

And it shows my need for JesusGlorifies my God

And tells people that Jesus is atWork forgiving and growing me

Page 14: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Jesus was grieved byIntentional Hypocrisy

Unintentional hypocrisyPoints to Jesus as the Perfect One and Forgiver

Page 15: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite
Page 16: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

When I walk closely with GodWhat grieves my heart is a

Reflection of what grieves his

Page 17: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

What grieves God Will grieve me

What causes God joy Will cause me joy

My reactions become a mirror Of my King

Page 18: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite
Page 19: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

There is a Call on your lifeRight where you are

Right now

Ministers of reconciliation

Page 20: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

The greatest evidenceOf the Gospel

Is your changed life

Page 21: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

With the Call comesWell-intentioned Dragons

And Hypocrites

To neuter the messageNo joy…no faith…no evidence

Page 22: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

When I walk closely with GodWhat grieves my heart is a

Reflection of what grieves his

Page 23: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his

face, because he stood condemned

Page 24: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite
Page 25: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

What would causeA no-account, late arrival

To stand toe-to-toe With the guy who kicked-offThe church of Jesus Christ?

Page 26: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

He was grieved, angered, upsetBecause Peter was mocking

The Gospel of Jesus

By his actions

Page 27: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

When I walk closely with GodWhat grieves my heart is a

Reflection of what grieves his

Page 28: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

There's a difference betweenBeing a Christian who

Knows stuff

And one who walks Closely with Jesus

Page 29: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

"I'm upset. I'll take a stand, then pray for God to support me"

"God's Spirit is grieved within me. I'll stand where God stands"

Page 30: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

When I walk closely with GodWhat grieves my heart is a

Reflection of what grieves his

Page 31: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles

Page 32: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

…but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party

Page 33: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Rank HypocrisyLiving for opinions of men

Showing favoritism

Fear of man…

Page 34: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

The suit…

Page 35: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

And Jesus wants more for usThan having to pretend

In order to gain approvalFrom sinners just like us

Page 36: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite
Page 37: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Following Jesus never affects Just me, right?

- Fruit of the Spirit - God directing me, wisdom- Obeying as he leads

Page 38: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

That's the problem with sin- it NEVER affects just me

Page 39: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Even if it does, it doesn't

Page 40: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Even if it does, it doesn't

- Fruit of the Flesh - Decision-making and wisdom - Missing God-led opportunities

Page 41: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

How we walkAlways affects the people

We are in relationship with

Page 42: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Check it: And the rest of the Jews (Jewish Christians) acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy

Page 43: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Intentional HypocrisyTo earn approval of men

- Public- Disgraceful

Page 44: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Black in white America…

Page 45: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Black in white America…

Finally started to trust

Page 46: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Black in white America…

Finally started to trustActing like they don't know you

Page 47: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite
Page 48: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Paul is grievedAnd emboldened

Even though it's Peter

Page 49: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospelI said to Cephas before them all…

Page 50: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

…not in step with The truth of the gospel

Level ground= equalJesus alone= righteousness

How we live= integrityHypocrisy= damages the gospel

Page 51: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

“If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

Page 52: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Outed…Why didn't he take him aside?

- Nature of the sin- How far it spread

Page 53: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Paul is grieved. Because…

Page 54: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

When we walk closely with GodWhat grieves our heart is a

Reflection of what grieves his

Page 55: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Paul takes it to PeterNot to a bunch of others

But to the sourceGreat example of something that I absolutely…

Page 56: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Terms:

Jews by birth- with the LawGentile Sinners- without Law

Page 57: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we

know that a person is not justified by works of the law…

Page 58: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

…but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law

Page 59: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

…because by works of the law no one will be justified

Page 60: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not!

Page 61: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

We aren't Gentile sinners(People who don't follow Law)

But now we aren't under LawSo did Jesus make us "sinners"?

Page 62: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor

If I go back to Law, PeterI prove my own hypocrisy & sin

Page 63: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God

Fulfilled in Christ

Page 64: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me

I died to the LawBecause I died to self

Page 65: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Which also means…I don't need

The approval of man

Nor do I have to fear manOr man's organizations

Page 66: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me

But I do fear God…and love him

Page 67: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were

through the law, then Christ died for no purpose

- Gal. 2:12-21

Page 68: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

God doesn't demandYour perfection

He becomes your perfectionAnd dies on a cross for your sinTo set you free from hypocrisy

Page 69: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Identity in Christ

Only Jesus is PerfectI am in Christ

He is my Perfection and myForgiveness when I stumble

Page 70: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

I don't have to Play the hypocriteTo please people

No matter who they are

Page 71: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

Hypocrisy grieves the Heart Of God

And it should grieve ours

Page 72: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

"So let's all judgeThe hypocrites!"

Page 73: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite

My own hypocrisy shouldGrieve my heart most

Page 74: Galatians: Starting Over {Yet Again} The Hypocrite
