Will this endangered species survive?

Penguins are flightless sea birds. They can be many different colors from the chest up. Most species have black backs and white fronts. Penguins are able to control their body heat by facing their black backs or white fronts to the sun.

Galapagos penguins breed on the Galapagos Islands on the equator (and the north coast of Isabelle Island just north of the equator!)

The Galapagos Penguin is the third smallest species of penguins in the world. The female lays a clutch of two eggs of which usually one survives. These are the northern most penguins in the world.

The Galapagos Penguin is endangered because it is mostly dying of starvation. The other problem for this penguin is keeping it cool. If it’s body is not the correct temperature then it could die.

• Schooling fish (fish that swim together)

• Sardines that are 1-15 cm. in length

• The Galapagos Penguin (Speniscus mendiculus) The Galapagos Penguin lives on the Galapagos Islands. It is the only penguin to live on the equator.
