» Need for more data and research on what is happening to girls and young women of color and philanthropy’s response;

» Need for practical tools to help educate staff and board members to develop an intersectional lens throughout your institutions;

» The importance of community building to do this work.

What are your hopes for the G4GC Community?

Preliminary data from the Foundation Center

» About 7% of all grantmaking in the U.S. goes for women and girls. Between 7 and 10% of that number is designated for WGOC

» Health was the primary issue for WGOC. Education was number 5

» Most grants went to organizations in the Northeast, then the South, then the West, then the Midwest

What we still do not know

» Disaggregated data on funding flows to specific ethnic and racial groups

» More nuanced analysis of explicit vs implicit funding

» Giving of smaller and/or regional foundations

» More recent funding trends (2014 to present)

» Grant dollars that are place (neighborhood, region) specific
