INDUSTRIAL VISIT ON 1ST MARCH,2019

Information Technology Department of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), a Charutar

Vidya Mandal Institute, Vallabh Vidyanagar, organized Industrial Visit at “RTTC – BSNL, Ahmedabad”, which

was coordinated by Prof. Bhargesh Patel, Dr. Miral Patel, Prof. Jaymit Pandya, Prof. Jay Vala and Mr. Amit

Patel on 1st March, 2019 from 8.00 AM to 5:45 PM. The visit was conducted as part of subject Computer

Networks (2140709) in 2nd year Information Technology. Total 48 students along with 4 faculty members and 1

Lab Assistant from the department visited the RTTC – BSNL, Ahmedabad.

Main Objectives of Industrial Visit at RTTC – BSNL was to understand Basic Fundamentals of various computer

networks, mobile network and telephone networks services and hardware architecture like GSM, Broadband,

OFC (Optical Fibre Cable / communication), To understand evolution of Telephone communication, To

understand how FTTH (Fibre to the home) will be implemented in future And to get idea about upcoming

technologies in Mobile communication and Networking.

Summary of the Visit:

At the beginning of the visit, two faculties of training centre explained what BSNL exactly is, what the function

of BSNL and the summer internship are for students. Then after introduction session the faculty divide the all

students into two groups to visit seven different labs on campus.

The labs which we seen are as follow:

Network:

o In this lab we knew about how the actual network has created. The routing configuration and the

connection of two different routers.

GSM – BTS lab:

-In this lab the faculty show us mobile GSM network. They also give us the basic idea about

3G and 4G mobile networking.

Telecom museum:

-In this lab we first we knew that how the communication was occurred when telephone wasn’t

invented. After that we knew the different different telephones.

OFC (Optical fibre communication) lab:

-In this lab training faculty gave the basic idea about fibre optic cable. He also told how it’ll

useful.

FTTH(Fibre to the home) lab:

-They give information about fibre technology and current trend in fibre optics systems and also

they have explained and shown some devices.

C-Dot Switch:

-In this lab faculty told us how the connection is established and also told us the difference between

the packet switching and circuit switching approach. We also know about Line Access Gateway Unit

(LAGU) and Control Access Gateway Unit (CAGU).

Broadband Lab:

-In that we knew how the BSNL provided the services of internet and calling. According to the

frequency band the internet and calling divided.

CONCLUSION:

Get the basic fundamentals of networking

Students get the idea how theoretical knowledge will helpful in industries.

Basic fundamentals of networking and mobile communication were made cleared.

Students also get the idea how to create connection.

Overall it was a very interesting and informative visit and faculties of training centre were very

helpful and clear all the doubts of students.
