G.6 BOARD CF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) Sept ember 14, 19U8 BANK DEBITS,-DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS Bank debits as reported by banks in 333 leading centers for the month of August aggregated 97,940 million dollars* During the past three months total debits for the same centers amounted to 309*516 million dollars or 14 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 11 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months period a year ago, and at the 332 other centers there was an increase of 15 per cent.
