Safety Update
From the desk of Ms “C”
One of our safety concerns daily in the classroomis walking to and from activities. Children love torun. We sing the reminders. We demonstrate thereminders. We encourage the children, and wenever give up. The safety of your children is toppriority for us.
When we get to the gym, we remind them that thegym can be a “running room”, as well as theplayground. We have children who run and runand run and run. Movement for their little bodiesis so important.
Another safety discussion you can hear teachershaving regularly is “the bathroom is a privateplace/time”. As we work with your children, wetry to use appropriate words, give guidance anddirection, and encourage them to remember whatpeacemakers do!
It’s a blessing to teach your beautiful children, aswe safely work together at Noah’s Ark!
I hope “safety” info in this section keeps youinformed, and that you will ask questions if youhave any other concerns! Hugs, JC
More on Kindergartenreadiness from thedesk of Ms “C”
Ask yourself thesequestions if you’requestioning your child’sreadiness for
Kindergarten. Then be sure to chat with yourchild’s home base teacher at conferences:1. Can my child listen to instructions and thenfollow them?2. Is my child able to put on his coat and go tothe bathroom by himself?3. Does my child show an interest in books?4. Is my child curious and receptive to learningnew things?5. Does my child get along with other children?6. Can my child stick with an activity forperiods of time?7. How does my child adjust to transitions?8. Can my child share toys and take turns?
The preschool screening list we will share withyou at conferences covers many things that wedo with children at school, but also things thatwe are observing them do on their own.
It has been so much fun to watch your childrengrow at their own pace. Each child is awonderful individual. Thanks for sharing themwith us!

www.loveandlogic.com by Charles Fay(from June 24, 2015 )
It seems that just about every family has at leastone child who spends most of his time trying tofigure out what others want...so that he can doexactly the opposite.
Frustrated by their testy behavior, it’s prettyeasy to fall into less than effective parentingpractices. I hear some of these at the grocerystore:“If you’re really good, then I’ll buy you a candybar.!”If you don’t stop that, then you’re going right toyour room when we get home.”
When parents are unsuccessful with strong-willed kids, it’s frequently because they’veissued an “if-then”. When their spirited kidshear this, they think: “Now the challenge is on. I’ll show them.”
Ironically, stubborn kids are willing to receiveconsequences...and miss out on the rewards...ifit means winning a control battle. Whenrewards come as a surprise to kids, they have noopportunity to sabotage themselves before theyreceive them. When we avoid warning them ofspecific consequences in advance, they spendless time fighting us and trying to figure outhow to find the “loop holes” in our plans.
Food for thought!!
