AmpuSave Testing Results

AmpuSave® patent pending

#AAM1000

Meets National First Aid Science Advisory Board Guidelines!

Reduces workers compensation, disability, and rehabilitation costs. Over 70% of the time the severed digit is a complete loss, being forgotten at the scene or transported improperly!

AmpuSave is a medical transport device that allows for proper storage and transport of severed digits and avulsions. AmpuSave consists of a storage compartment for a cold compress (which is included and sealed) and another storage compartment for gauze, saline solution, and an instruction card for proper preparation, as well as the necessary storage of the amputated digit or avulsion for transport. The included instruction card allows for recording the time of the injury and the injured party’s name for accurate reporting of the incident.

The test...Four thermocouples* were secured to the inside of the AmpuSave bag. The cold pack was then activated and temperature data was collected. Two thermometers were placed on each side of the AmpuSave bag (both on the inside compartments) to detect any variation in temperatures.

The results...The chart above shows the results of AmpuSave testing that was done at Iowa State University. The sample maintained a temperature below 50F for over 1 hour, below 60F for over 2 hours, and below 70F (room temperature) for over 3 ½ hours. The product sample did not reach “freezing” (32F) which is harmful for reattachment of digits and avulsions. The product sample maintained adequate temperatures for digit and avulsion average transport time to the hospital by EMS or other method of transportation.

31” x 18“ x 6” light-weight carrying case

To anyone responsible for training: stop struggling with scheduling, cost overruns, and retention risks. First Voice has developed a system that will minimize your scheduling inconveniences, improve skill retention, AND reduce your training costs! Using our advanced responder products, you can improve your responder programs, reduce your costs, and keep your responders at nearly 100% skills retention all year long.

Our Hands On CPR and First Aid Training system combines online training with state-of-the-art products to ensure that your responders are always up-to-date and ready for action. Just 15-30 minutes every month guarantees that your responders know how to respond to any emergency. Major training studies show that 15-30 minute interactive training and online classes can be as effective as 4 hours of training.*

Using our online training with the Prestan Hands On CPR Feedback Manikin, First Voice Emergency Instruction Device (EID), the First Voice Training Scenarios Book, and an optional AED trainer upgrade in a convenient carrying case ensures that you are providing your responders with the best training and equipment at the lowest possible cost.

Realistic to the eye and the touch, the Prestan manikin (#PP-AM-100M) is unlike any other on the market. Prestan’s revolutionary new CPR Rate Monitor allows for instant feedback to both instructor and student regarding the rate of chest compression and depth. This allows each student to gauge their rate of compressions on their own as well as allowing the

instructor to monitor several students quickly and easily. Includes CPR skills retention checklist documents for your responders!

The Prestan CPR Feedback Manikin

The Training Scenarios Book (#TS001) can be used as needed for a quick anytime training refresher, bringing the instructor to you. Covers medical, injury, and environmental emergencies and ensures skills practice for CPR and a majority of workplace first aid incidences. The CPREzy CPR Assistance Device is unlike other manual External Chest Compression Assist Devices (ECCAD). Just turn it on, place it to the chest as suggested, and begin compressing. There is no waiting for voice prompts which divert your attention and waste precious rescue time. The CPREzy ensures you are giving correct compression depths regardless of the surface that your victim is laying upon.

How it worksThe Chest Pad has an audible chirp and visual light pacing system in the metronome component. The metronome speaker gives a clear chirp tone at 100 compressions-per-minute to match CPR administration guidelines. The audible chirp tone can be silenced while the visual light pacing system continues at the 100 compression-per-minute rate.

Preparedness begins with training and extends beyond the classroom with this rugged, comprehensive, and interactive first aid emergency tool.Just four minutes in a medical emergency can mean the difference between life and death. The First Voice Emergency Instruction Device (EID) is a life saving, affordable device that allows rescuers to help mediate the situation until 911 assistance arrives.

The EID is designed to effectively coach users on over 30 trauma medical emergencies from start to finish. In the event of an emergency, this simple, easy-to-use touch pad gives directions in English or Spanish on how to respond quickly and accurately. The award-winning EID keeps rescuers focused on accepted first aid and CPR protocols in order to treat the injured person in a safe manner. The device speaks out loud and has visible instructions on the embedded LCD screen, asking questions about the extent of the injury. The yes/no buttons are used to answer. Depending on the severity of the situation, the EID continues to ask questions until it understands the situation and can accurately give instruction on how to proceed and further treat the injured person.

First Voice can provide a full line-up of automated external defibrillator (AED) and AED Accessories and first aid sourcing for your organization with convenient and high-value options. In addition, our leading solution-the HeartSine samaritan AED-is the most rugged, light weight and low cost AED on the market.

But – no matter what AED you buy – that is only part of the solution. While Good Samaritan language protects users of AEDs, companies and organizations that purchase AEDs have to abide by their state’s civil liability immunity laws for AED acquirers. Many AED distributors historically have not provided the correct guidance to their customers regarding this blanket of legal protection. Now you can not only purchase the right AED for the right environment and application but you can also make sure that you are providing the complete solution. As a First Voice distributor you can now offer a complete solution to your customers and ensure they have a solid and complete AED program that protects everyone including you!

The First Voice Advantage

“We had a situation where we had an OSHA reportable incident – a major trauma – after 3 years of no unintentional injuries or reportables. It was a major bleeding trauma and the First Voice took the employee responder’s adrenaline down a notch and helped them to focus. The bleeding pack had everything we needed and the EID instruc-tions provided the guide. The infrequently trained responder and their employer need to know about your SET system. Our occupational health doctors told us we were vital in helping save the employee’s hand!”

How critical is response time to survival?Every minute that passes without defibrillation reduces survival rate by 7 - 10%.

In New York City, where the average emergency response time was 12 minutes, survival rates from SCA were as low as 2%.

Are Good Samaritans protected?• There have been no known lawsuits against lay

rescuers providing CPR as Good Samaritans, nor any against AED users.

• The Cardiac Arrest Survival Act (CASA) was part of the Public Health Improvement Act signed into law in November 2000.

– The law advocates the placement of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in federal buildings.

– Provides nationwide Good Samaritan protection that exempts anyone from liability who renders emergency treatment with a defibrillator to save someone’s life.

• The limited immunity provided in CASA extends to private, public and federal settings.

What is the financial cost of not having AEDs?Gyms, fitness clubs, airlines, municipalities and others have been successfully sued for not having an automated external defibrillator on their premises.

To find out about your duty to provide care or industry mandates contact us at 888-473-1777 or ask your local dealer for assistance.

Studies document the value of AEDs in public places• Success of AED programs – McInnis et al reported a 75% SCA survival

rate as a result of an AED program, vs 2–5% survival without an AED program.

K.J. McInnis, ScD, et al. Am. Journal of Cardiology. August 1997, pgs 380-383.

– Valenzuela, et al reported survival rate of 74% as a result of AED program in casinos.

“Outcomes of rapid defibrillation by security officers after cardiac arrest in casinos,” NEJM, 2000.

– Survival rate of 90% has been reported among victims of SCA.

J.Hossack et al. “Cardiac arrest associated with supervised cardiac rehabilitation.” J Cardiac Rehab. 2: 402-408, 1982.

• Success of Community AED programs in saving SCA victims

successes from community AED programs:

– Washington state, increase from 7% to 26%. – Iowa, increase from 3% to 19%. – Other community AED programs report survival

rate of 49%. T Aufderheide, etal. Circulation Jan 16, 2006

What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?Normal heart activity: Note the regular pattern with each beat of the heart.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest: The heart enters a chaotic, typically ventricular

Problem: The heart cannot pump blood effectively and the victim will collapse.

Symptoms:• Victim is unconscious• Not breathing spontaneously• No pulse

How serious is it?• Approximately 450,000 are impacted each

year in the US alone.• Can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime.• Only 5 –10% currently survive nationwide.• Survival rates above 50% have been

achieved when effective CPR is applied

Medical Identification (iD) Flash Device #MID01

iD is a personal electronic identification device that utilizes a custom USB flash drive to store your complete emergency medical information. The device features an auto-loading “form” which the owner completes to store critical, life-saving information that can be utilized by emergency personnel at the scene of an accident. Detailed information can be entered through the use of the form’s expansion fields.

Information such as medical conditions, allergies, medications, and even DNR and Living Will documents can be stored on the device to ensure that proper care is given to those in need. In addition, the form includes a photo of the owner, and the device itself is easily recognized by police, fire fighters, and EMT members because of the universal medical symbol found on its exterior.

Save information such as:• Who you are• Your current medications• Known drug reactions• Insurance information• Who to contact in case of emergency• Your medical conditions/history• Allergies• Living Wills and DNR orders

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How can an EMT read the device? Laptop computers are standard issue equipment in most Police, Ambulance, and Fire Rescue vehicles. Once they discover the device on your person, they insert it into their USB port and have access to all of your critical medical information.

Can I update the device as my information changes? Yes, by re-inserting the device into your computer port, you can click on any field and update the information. The devices even include a password feature to protect the information from being accidentally over-written (password not needed to read the device).

Why would my employees find the device valuable? At the scene of an accident, time is critical. Detailed information about medical conditions, prescriptions, pre-existing conditions, allergies, and DNR or Living Will information can be accessed immediately, saving time, lives and potential additional disability costs. Having identification including your employer’s phone number, emergency contact numbers, and medical information readily available for emergency personnel is imperative. The iD offers adults a method of providing this in a small, portable, convenient way. The iD comes with a keyring so it can be stored on clothing, in a purse or in a glove box.

For the most comprehensive AED Management Solution make sure you add:

Managing an AED program is a big undertaking, often being an overwhelming and complicated process. But it doesn't have to be.

First Voice +AED Program Manager includes:• Monitor the expiration dates of all of your pads, batteries, and first aid or First Voice supplies• Monitor the CPR/AED/First Aid/BBP re-certification schedules for all of your designated responders and any in-house training instructors• Input and track any AED's monthly maintenance information• Generate informational reports about your AED and first aid program anytime it's needed• Enter the hazards, notes, and reminders about your AED/first aid program equipment that are helpful to you and specific to any placement locations• Allows access by multiple AED administrators and view-only users

Customer Managed First Voice +AED Program Manager (#AEDP1)

Medical Direction is an important component to organizations that are purchasing an AED. Many states require medical direction and oversight to limit an organization’s legal liability for its AED program.

Medical Direction features:

Physician SupervisionYour AED program will be under the direct supervision of a licensed physician that can help you secure the FDA-required medical authorization for your AED, approve protocols for its use, and provide medical supervision and support of any uses of the device.

Training and SupportTraining is one of the most critical components to a successful AED program. Medical direction will recommend using onsite training or nationally accredited online training needs, and monitor re-certification schedules for those designated staff members who have received CPR/AED/First Aid/BBP training. Some industries may require other special training such as oxygen or healthcare provider ACLS courses and medical direction will specify these needs and monitor recertification as well.

AED Protocol Standards OversightKeeping your equipment up-to-date allows things to work properly and stay within current nationally accepted protocols. Development of procedures and tools for maintenance and inspection of AED and responder equipment will provide a cohesive AED program. AED and Responder protocols and procedures for response and training are signed-off on by your qualified AED professional. Finally, a compliance audit will ensure your AED Program follows all federal, state and local governmental compliance standards to limit your organization’s legal liability.
