What is the FAITH? How do we apply it to our daily lives? From time immemorial, man has

had FAITH in many ideals. When our forefathers founded this country, they had FAITH in its

future. When we attend the church of our “FAITH”, we, as Masons, are taught to have FAITH

in the existence of a supreme being. It has been this continual FAITH over all the years,

exerted by society toward their fellow man that has resulted in our progress and civilization toward that ideal of one common

“band of society.” Today, more than ever, it is obvious that we must have a FAITH in our ideals and in our fellow man in all that

we do. Changes are taking place in our society, in our youth and in our technology, that often leaves us quite breathless. Often as

we discussed some of the problems facing our young people today, we hear the expression, “what kind of an example have we

set for them, or what kind of future can we offer them?” How can they have a FAITH in the present world that we are giving them?

Certainly the tenants of Freemasonry can be the most encouraging and vital inheritance that our youth can receive. They will

accept them only if we can show them by example how important these teachings will be to influence their future purpose and

happiness. Most of us want our youth of today to emulate in some ways the pattern of life that we ourselves hold in such high

regard. Why can’t this be an experience in masonry? If you are concerned about the direction our youth are headed in, it is t ime

that you stop shaking your head. Hold it high and attend all of your lodge meetings. The direction that masonry is headed

depends upon whether or not they have enough FAITH in you to follow. I think they will. Although you may think I wrote this today,

this was written by an anonymous bother and can be found in a book compiled by Alphonse Cerza in 1971 (September 26), titled

A Masonic Thought for Each Day of the Year. This passage demonstrates how little things have changed and how much FAITH is

a part of what we do. This New Year is our time to make a difference. Be sure to attend meetings and get involved. I look forward

to seeing you at the next meeting.

Scouting makes a direct and positive impact on our communities by teaching positive values and leadership skills to youth. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America “Is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law”. The Vision of the Boy Scouts of America “is to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law”. Sun City Lodge N0 72 is proud to support Boy Scout troop 938.

Brethren, I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday season. Hanukkah and Christmas are a

special time of year. People rekindle the true meaning of the season and for a short time behave

as all true Masons behave all year round, with Brotherly Love, Truth and Charity guiding their

actions. Wouldn’t be nice if everyone’s New Year’s resolution would be to treat everyone as they

would like to be treated? As we start a new calendar year, we also started a new Lodge year a couple of weeks back. Which

means I am in charge of the 3RD degree slate of Officers. The first 3rd degree is going to be on January 28TH, if you want to

participate in the degree please give me a call. We are starting the year off with a lot of degree work and it is a nice feeling to start

doing our ritual work again. Please come out and join us for some fellowship, if you haven’t been to lodge in a while, don’t worry

about, come on out and you will find it easy to get in and enjoy the companionship that you remember.

Masonic tradition calls on us to render aid to our sick and

needy brothers. While we are getting better at doing that,

we have been neglecting our ladies and their needs. If any

of you know of a sick or distressed brother or a Masonic

widow, please call the lodge office at 623.972.2217 and leave

a message on the recorder or in person tell the Secretary

or Building Manager.

Sun City Lodge N0 72 would like to preserve our heritage and Lodge by building upon

the Irrevocable Trust Fund. To do this, the Brothers of Sun City Lodge N0 72 can

consider Including in their will a Gift to the Irrevocable Trust Fund of Sun City Lodge N0

72, Peoria, Arizona. This absolutely will preserve our heritage that the Brothers above

have established. The funds will be used to maintain the building and for possible

renovations in the near future. The Lodge is in need of replenishing this fund. The

Brothers may contribute to this fund at any time.

Greetings:

Brethren From The South

As we start the new year with a clean slate and all that this implies let us look forward to new

beginnings and to a renewed commitment to the principles of our craft. I eagerly look

forward to participating in the initiation of new brothers and assisting them through their

progress of becoming Master Masons. Some upcoming changes to our meal service at our

stated meetings include that the meals will be prepared and served at 5:45 PM by the ladies of the Amaranth. These meals will

now cost $8.00 per person and a reservation must be made three days in advance in order to participate. You must RSVP by

emailing Bob Cole at [email protected] or, by contacting the lodge directly at 623.972.2217.The ladies of the Eastern Star will

be preparing and serving our meals on the nights that we conduct Master Mason degrees. Please RSVP for this meal also

following the above instructions. Refreshments will continue to be served after all meetings. I look forward to seeing all of you in

lodge and wish you all a happy, healthy new year.

Happy New Year’s Brethren. This has been a busy season once again with the Holidays, as well as Elections and Installations.

The best of those installations, showing true courage under fire was for our councils Purple Heart of Masonry. Our own Deputy

Master, Steve Wieters, I am proud to say is, well, having a very Black & Blue Year. That is, as you know, being the Eminent

Commander of St. Andrews Commandery of Knights Templar and now has been installed as the Worshipful Master of Sun City N0

72, F&AM in Arizona. Within the Year, Steve will also be leading, if elected, the Red & Purple Lodges, as well, as High Priest of

Oasis Chapter N015 Royal Arch Masons and as the Illustrious Commander of Stewart Council of Cryptic Masons, leading all 3

York Rite bodies and the hosting Blue Lodge within a 2 year span. I am in awe of the Powerhouse of Personalities which our

Council embodies, showing us what is possible of one singular Mason. Congratulations to our Dearest Deputy Master, Steve

Wieters. Awesome Work Companion!!! Start the year out right, by coming to Council this 4TH Monday night.

The Past Masters of Sun City lodge N0 72 wish you and your family a safe, healthy and prosperous

New Year. The Past masters meet on the second Tuesday at 8:30 am in the Jackson Room. Coffee

& doughnuts served. Our next meeting will be on January 12, 2016. We invite the lodge officers to

attend It is a wise Master who recognizes the talents of the Past Masters and who uses them to good

advantage. They can serve as a “sounding board” for the programs and activities a master is consid-

ering. He can “pick their brains” for ideas and he can count on the Past Masters to give him the wis-

dom of their experience. The Master serves as the rudder, steering the course, but it is often the Past

Masters who assist him to “keep it on an even keel.”

Freemasonry is "veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols" because these are the surest way by which moral and ethical truths may be taught. It is

not only with the brain and with the mind that the initiate must take Freemasonry but also with the heart. ~ C. H. Claude MM

Masonry aims at the promotion of morality and higher living by the cultivation of the social side of man, the rousing in him of the instincts of charity and

love of his kind. It rests surely on the foundation of the brotherhood of man and the fatherhood of God. ~ William Howard Taft MM

"Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt, American President and Freemason

Brethren, at this time we have 221 member. We have three waiting for the EA degree (Royce

Kidd, Brian Arrowood and William Sturdevant) and two who have received the EA Marcus

Beckles and Edward Tanheimer. At the November meeting, we suspended 15 for

non-payment of dues. Two have paid their dues for 2015 and 2016. They are accounted for in

the total. I think we are doing very well. Our average age is 71.13. Do good unto all.

The Chairman for our second annual Pancake Breakfast, Bob Carhart, reports that the planning is done and he is ready for some

action on the part of the volunteers who will head up the various categories assigned to perform at the breakfast. It is never too

soon to make your plans so you will be available to help with this fun/fund raiser. Perhaps the most important activity that we can

all do is sell tickets so we can have more attendees than we did at our first Pancake Breakfast. It is going to be up to each of us

members and you do not even have to be a sound physical specimen to do this important work. Like in some of the other ‘chores’

our ladies can assist as well in making this event very successful. They attend many meetings and other activities where the men

do not so they have an excellent place to sell individual as well as groups of tickets. THANKS LADIES! We hope to see every-

one, who reads this epistle, at the breakfast with your friends and neighbors. All Master Masons are invited and encouraged to

attend any of our regular meetings on the second Fridays of the months of October through May as well as our socia l

events where the ladies and guests are always welcome and encouraged to attend. Santa Claus delivered at the festive Christ-

mas Holiday Luncheon on December 7, 2015. A great time had by all!

Reminders – Mark your calendars! Don’t miss any meeting or event!

January 8, 2016 8:00 AM Installation of 2016 Officers. State President Dave Miller and his team will preside. Arizona Wolcott

Deputy Trustee, Harry Brown, will bring us up to date on Wolcott in Arizona. Remember, you can participate with your donations

to the Wolcott Foundation any day of the year and join our Brothers attending the Sun City Lodge or any Lodge. As you know,

any of the local Lodges that you may visit can be a great location to find a new High Twelvian for our club. It is up to each of us to

sign up a new High Twelvian to keep our roster on the plus side and, hopefully, to increase our membership so that our friends

can enjoy our Food, Fun and Fellowship.

Honored Lady’s and Sir Knight’s: Our Amaranth Court N012 meeting was held on December 14TH, which was our friendship night. The tables were beautifully decorated, we had many visiting members from other Courts. Our Grand Royal Matron, Honored Lady Jeannie Yunker and the Grand Royal Patron, Sir Knight Earl Wunder attended. Fun was enjoyed by all with games, gifts and laughter. The Order of DeMolay boys were again with us, serving and doing the KP duty, the Royal Patron Jack Daniel introduced the young men and presented a nice donation to them. Over all, a grand time of fellowship was enjoyed by all. Christmas is here and a New Year is knocking at the door. We look to seeing all of you in in year 2016.
