TIMETABLES, PROGRAMMES etc. (for public transportation, cinemas etc.) My train leaves at 11:30, so I need to be at the
station by 11:15. What time does the film begin this evening The train leaves at 9 pm.
Although the action takes place in the future, it takes place regularly and is set by a time table.
Future TensesSimple Present
You can use the simple present tense to talk about people if their plans are fixed like a timetable. (such as politicians, businessmen) What time do you finish work tomorrow? I start my new job on Monday
Compare the present use and future use of present simple:
The buses start at 6 a.m. and stop at 12 p.m. every day. (simple present)
The train to Ankara leaves at 9 a.m. tomorrow and arrives there at 6 p.m. (future) Our classes usually begin at 9 and finish at 12. (simple
present) My class begins at 9 tomorrow and finishes at 12. (future)
