The Future of Energies

European Energies – Lisbon

Page 2: Future Presantation

In the future, civilization will be forced to research and develop alternative energy sources. Our current rate of fossil fuel usage will lead to an energy crisis this century. In order to survive the energy crisis many companies in the energy industry are inventing new ways to extract energy from renewable sources. While the rate of development is slow, mainstream awareness and government pressures are growing.

New Solar Pond Distillation System

• Development of a solar

technique that will take care of

the ecosystems of terminus

lakes around the world;

• This new solar distillation

system will help in removing

the salinity of the lake water.

Floating Geodesic Solar Molecules

• Development of the capability to

harvest 40 minutes of sunlight falling

on the entire earth, we can provide

energy to the whole population of this

planet for about a year.

• Scientists and industrial designers are

continuously engaged in research so

that they can create mechanics and

systems that can harvest solar energy

in a better way.

Energy Harvesting ‘Piezo-tree’ Concept

• Reproduction of the swaying of tree branches;

• The flapping leaves developed in the laboratory generate energy

which can be utilized by us;

• The whole exercise till now appears to be low-cost, and easily

scalable.

Converting Carbon Dioxide into Liquid Fuel with Bacteria

• Scientists have genetically been working

on a cyanobacterium;

• They successfully modified a

cyanobacterium to consume carbon

dioxide and generate the liquid fuel

isobutanol;

• The whole process happens with the help

of sunlight through photosynthesis.

CONCLUSIONS

• Heavily investments in energy efficiency are necessary

in order to meet the growing worldwide demand for

electronic technologies and gadgets and so that a

global economic crisis will be avoided;

• Demand for oil and energy resources from

industrialized nations like China are expected to

almost double by the year 2030.

Page 14: Future Presantation

• Many nations will increase their use of nuclear power

to meet growing energy needs;

• Large companies and developed countries will be

forced to look towards alternative means of obtaining

energy in order to cope with the growing needs,

depletion of fossil fuel and environmental

consequences.

CONCLUSIONS

Page 15: Future Presantation

What can we do about it? How can we contribute?

• Supporting environmental actions in any way possible;

• Spreading awareness about the dangers of pollution

and global warming;

• Recycling;

• Choosing alternative means of transportation;

• Avoiding the waste of energy;

• Keeping ourselves constantly informed on changes and

developments in the fields of alternative energy;

• Protecting nature and preserving the wildlife;

• Thinking GREEN.
