TestimonialHello, my name is David Boswell. I am an emergency physician and

photographer from Tucson, Arizona who has travelled with Bio Bio Expeditions several times since 2006. My first trip with them was in January, 2006 to Costa Rica for flat water kayaking in Torteguero

National Park, whitewater rafting on the Pacuare River, and relaxing on the beaches. I was impressed with Bio Bio and it’s guides from the very start.

Bio Bio specializes in customer oriented adventure travel, with a priority on safety that does nothing to diminish the “adrenaline factor.”

Since that first trip I have trekked the Inca Trail and explored the Amazon

jungle in Peru, went on a safari and reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, trekked through Torres del Paine and the El Chalten/Fitzroy region of Southern Patagonia, and, most recently, spent time

rafting and kayaking in the Futaleufu River region of Northern Patagonia, all with Bio Bio. Each trip has been smooth and well run, with personable,

knowledgeable guides, first class lodging (whether of the 5-star variety or the more rustic accommodations), and excellent itineraries. The focus is clearly

on the clients and providing an exciting, educational experience in a safe, stress free environment.

It is clear when talking to Marc and Laurence that they love what they do and that attitude is passed down through the entire organization, from

Florencia in the office to the guides such as Rachael, Phil, Jorge, and Stan (among the many very experienced guides employed by Bio Bio) to the local staff that keep the camp on the “Futa” run smoothly. If you want to

experience adventure travel as it should be then get up off the couch, sign up for a trip, and go out and explore our amazing, beautiful world. I know this

Stay on the river in the most exquisite adventure base camp imaginable! Overlooking one of the most beautiful canyons of the Futaleufu River, our base camp proves that camping can be luxurious. Amenities include:

our riverside sunset bar where we enjoy Chilean wines, a wood sauna, 5 hot showers, flush toilets, 2 massage studios, a stone riverside hot

tub and a hand built cedar tub, a fire side sit down dining area where we enjoy delicious meals made with locally grown produce, and indoor and

outdoor yoga decks with spectacular river and mountain views.

Your “home away from home” is a private, spacious safari-style tent bungalow with amazing views of the river. You will sleep in a comfy bed

with crisp, clean linen and fluffy comforters to keep you warm as the river lulls you into having sweet dreams!

Our camp provides natural areas of private, quiet reflection and beautifully hand built structures such as the open-air library or cozy yoga pagoda. We are ideally situated for river access and smooth

shuttle logistics – jump in a raft and float down to the famous “bridge to bridge” white water section just a mile downstream from camp. We are

right in the middle of the most continuous white water on the river! This translates to more river time and less driving time.

At the Bio Bio camp you will dine in style, including a traditional meal of Cordero (lamb)

cooked over an open fire, called an Asado (pictured at left). But don’t worry if you don’t eat

meat, we can accommodate most dietary needs.

RAISING THE BAR...White water rafting is our specialty! We will safely and

expertly guide you down the best whitewater on earth in both 16‘ and 18’ rafts with stern frames. Bio Bio Expeditions

maintains an impeccable safety record since our inception in 1992. We use both safety kayakers and catarafts with an international crew of guides that are leaders in their field.

Our gear is of the highest quality, from new high-float lifejackets to hand hewn Chilean saddles, it’s all top of the

line! We have a fleet of 14 mountain bikes, a variety of fishing equipment to use from shore or from one of our catarafts equipped with swivel casting seats, as well as a quiver of whitewater kayaks – from big volume river runners to the

newest trick play boats.
