Fundamental Japanese Courses

■ “Fundamental Japanese Courses” are classes forinternational students to acquire a high level of Japanese language proficiency.

■ “Fundamental Japanese Courses” are open to other categories of international students on campus.

e.g. Research Students（“Kenkyu-sei”）, Japan Studies Students（“Nikken-sei”）, ISEPTUFS students（= exchange students）

Students who are placed in “Upper-Advanced” levelCANNOT register for Fundamental Japanese classes.

★ Intensive Japanese 100 （10 credits）○Writing 114 （1 credit）○ Oral Communication 115 （1 credit）

★ Required ○ Optional

Students who passed Intensive Japanese 100 will move up to Level 300 in the Fall Quarter.

Level 200

★ Integrated Japanese 201 （5 credits）○Writing 214 （1 credit）○ Oral Communication 215 （1 credit）○ Kanji 901 （1 credit）

★ Required ○ Optional

Students in this level are recommended totake all these 4 classes (8 credits) in Spring Quarter .

Students in this level can choose either Kanji 901(JLPT N4) or Kanji 902 (JLPT N3) depending on their Kanji Level.

Students who wish to take Reading must choose either“Reading 712” or “Reading Japanese Modern Literature.”

Registration Procedure■ Take the Placement Test ONLINE by April 13.

■ Register ONLINE for ALL the classes you wish totake between April 13 and April 17.

■ Start attending the classes ONLINE from April 20, in response to the invitations from instructors via email.

■Adjust registration ONLINE if needed between April 20 and April 24.

Students who want to change their level must consultwith the instructor of the Intensive or Integrated class.
