Underwater Observatory & End of Jetty

Bookings from 5.30pm to 10.30pm*

The Underwater Observatory is one of only six natural aquariums in the world where you can view over 300 different marine species in their natural habitat.

Turning the lights off in the Observatory after sunset to watch the bioluminescent marine life sparkle is truly extraordinary. (Lighting is dependent on visibility which is determined by weather conditions)

The exclusive use of the Observatory coupled with access to the ‘End of the Jetty’ is perfect for larger events.

Underwater Observatory Capacity: 44 guests at any one time

Total capacity (Observatory and ‘End of Jetty’): 90 guests (per hour on train). Max capacity ‘End of Jetty’ 500 guests.

Cost: $995 (including GST) per hour– minimum 2-hour booking. Price includes mini-tour of the Observatory.

The Observatory is suitable for 14 people for a sit-down meal, and up to 44 people for a cocktail style function. This is dependent on the set-up and the amount of furniture you bring in for the day.

Capacity: 44 guests

Cost: $550 (including GST) per hour – minimum 2-hour booking. Price includes mini-tour of the Observatory.

End of Jetty

Bookings from 5.30pm to 10.30pm*

Enjoy breathtaking views from the longest wooden piled jetty in the world, with breathtaking 360-degree views across the ocean.

The ‘End of the Jetty’ provides ample space perfect for a marquee set-up.

Capacity: 90 guests (per hour on train). Max capacity ‘End of Jetty’ 500 guests.

Cost: $550 (including GST) per hour – minimum 2-hour booking.

Busselton Jetty Once in a Lifetime Experiences

End of Jetty Underwater Dining Experience

In an Australian first, dining 8 metres below the ocean’s surface is now possible at the Busselton Jetty. Diners are treated to premium Western Australian produce – all cooked by your private chef while watching marine life outside the Observatory.

A marine scientist is on hand to educate and entertain diners with stories about marine life after dark.

Package includes return flights from Perth, limousine transport from Busselton Airport to Busselton Jetty, a train ride with a glass of sparkling and appetiser, return train with petit fours and paired wine, up to eight-course degustation matched with premium Margaret River wine and exclusive use of the Underwater Observatory.

Extras available dependent on availability – ‘Welcome to Country’, photographer and/or mermaid swimming outside the windows to enthral your guests.

Sunset Train Ride

Enjoy a unique return sunset train ride on the Stocker Preston Express, purchase a Snack Box to enjoy and receive a complimentary glass of premium Margaret River wine. Private bookings outside of scheduled tours are possible depending on availability.

Sunset Underwater Tours

Enjoy a train ride out to the Underwater Observatory with the option of purchasing a snack box and complimentary glass of premium Margaret River wine to enjoy on your journey. Spend 45 minutes exploring the Observatory with a marine expert who will educate and entertain you with stories about life after dark.

Stocker Preston Express

Sit back and relax while our train driver takes you on a 1.7km journey across the calm, clear waters of Geographe Bay. Perfect option to transport your guests to the end of the Jetty.

Electric Buggies

Private use of 7 or 3 seater electric buggies. Perfect for transporting VIP guests, supplies, etc.

Capacity: 7 or 3 pax

Cost: $70 per hour – includes driver

Our Friends:The Busselton Jetty is very proud of the suppliers we have had the pleasure to work alongside. We can offer as much or as little complimentary advice and recommendations to find your event dream team; from catering to florists, we have some fantastic suggestions for you.

Additional information:There are two toilets located immediately outside the Underwater Observatory.

There is no kitchen facilities available (until after December 2019) however there is space for the set-up of a satellite kitchen behind the Observatory. Please note this area is open to the elements.

Terms & Conditions

1. Tentative BookingsTentative bookings will be held for a period of two weeks and will automatically be cancelled unless arrangements have been made to extend the tentative booking period.

2. Confirmation of BookingsA non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure the venue and date of your booking. Every effort will be made to ensure the client’s choice of date and venue is held without change. However, the Busselton Jetty reserves the right to amend the booking without incurring financial penalty. That is, the Busselton Jetty reserves the right to change the date and venue due to unforeseen circumstances outside of the Busselton Jetty’s control. If changes are required, the Client will always be notified at the earliest possible time. Paying the deposit indicates client acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

3. Payment Policy Full payment is required when final numbers are confirmed two (2) weeks before the function. Credit card details are to be provided as security for final payments. Please note all prices are subject to change. However, once the deposit is paid there will be no price changes.

4. Cancellation All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Busselton Jetty reserves the right to change a cancellation fee for the estimated total value of the function as follows:Notice within three (3) months: 50%Notice within two (2) months: 75%Notice within one (1) month: 100%Deposits can be used as part payment of cancellation fee.

5. Pricing Prices may change without notice. All prices are inclusive of GST.

6. BeveragesLiquor licencing restrictions and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Guidelines apply to all events booked at the Busselton Jetty. Busselton Jetty Inc. will inform you of the specifics in relation to your event at the time of booking.

7. Confirmation of detailsRequired a minimum of 14 days before function date. Busselton Jetty regrets that we are unable to guarantee the smooth running and success of a function if confirmed details are provided less than 14 days prior.

8. Public HolidaysA 25% surcharge applies to the total value of all functions booked on a public holiday.

9. Time Schedule* Access to the Underwater Observatory and ‘end of Jetty’ is from 5.30pm to 10.30pm (except for Sunset Tours and the Underwater Dining Experience). Other times may be arranged depending on availability and upon discussion with the Event Manager. Set-up and set-down is part of the hourly hire rate.

10. Damage/InsuranceNothing is to be nailed, screwed, stapled or adhered to any wall, door or surface of the Underwater Observatory or the Jetty structure. The Event Manager must approve all signage in the public areas. Any damage to the property, equipment, fittings or surrounds caused by guests to Busselton Jetty will be the financial responsibility of the organiser. The costs associated with repairs or abnormal cleaning will incur additional charges. Busselton Jetty is always cautious when looking after people and their belongings, however, accepts no responsibility for the damage or loss of merchandise on our premises before, during or after a function. We recommend organisers arrange their insurance. Any items left on site will be disposed of after seven (7) days unless prior arrangement has been made. We ask that the Underwater Observatory and the Jetty are cleared and returned to the condition they were in when you arrived to set up.

11. DeliveriesItems being delivered must be boxed and labelled with function name marked. Drop off times must be arranged with Busselton Jetty. Should you or your stylists, caterers, musicians, etc. need to drive close to the Observatory / End of the Jetty to drop off heavy items, the Busselton Jetty ‘buggies are available for hire per hour. A driver is provided. Although all care is taken, no responsibility is taken for lost or damaged goods. All items must be delivered no earlier than 9 am and collected at the conclusion of the function. All other delivery and pick up times must be discussed and arranged with the Busselton Jetty Event Manager.

12. SmokingSmoking is strictly prohibited inside all buildings.

13. Music/entertainmentMellow (not very loud) music can be played until 10pm, after which time we request that it is turned off. Music can be provided by you for use on the train.
