SOUTH FLORIDA UNIT #30 Wally Byam Caravan Club International Volume 45—Issue 2 February/ March 2013 President’s Message The euphoria of our last rally is slowly subsiding as we recall the outstanding events of this salute to the Glouners. I say the “Glouners” because the old saw of “behind every great man is a great woman” is true. We all recognize that BJ is part of Jack and their life was a team effort. So it is with this past rally. Much of the rally’s success was due to preparation and effort by John Frerking. His leadership permeated the rally but behind him (sometimes leading), was Eileen with her enthusiasm and smile. The rally also succeeded because of the effort of all the members of South Florida—pulling together to help without being prodded. I was told that some of our guests requested information about our next rally so they could join us. South Florida should justly be proud. Congratulations and thanks to you all. I take pride in being a member of South Florida. There is so much coming I have to organize them sequentially. Our next event will be the Florida State Rally (Feb. 11-17). Our Unit Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb.13 at 11:30 at Bob’s Train for $12pp. I will prepare tickets and a poster to advertise this event. Tickets will be available during registration or by calling me (954-295-3413). Tony has asked for help with Building Security at FSR. He will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, February 13 at 10 AM. If you can, please make yourself available. Of course, our other function at the rally—SANITATION !!! The assignment for this activity rotates among the units and I must say, in all the years I have attended, we never drew the “black straw”. This year it is our function. Our job will be to hand the sewer hose to the departing trailers and they will hook up the hose and dump. This procedure is so we can exit quickly. We will be responsible to man 4 dump stations on Monday, February 18 from 7:30 AM until 2:00 PM. Hoses, gloves and other supplies will be provided. Please see me and make sure that we don’t embarrass our unit. Please volunteer at the luncheon. Our next unit rally will take place February 28 – March 4. Those of you have email will have received a preliminary notice. A coupon and schedule is printed in this newsletter. Please fill it out and remit as early as possible. I know time has been shortened but we ran into scheduling problems and things did not fall into place until now. Thanks should be given to Sue Quintana for her assistance. Myra and I look forward to seeing you real soon. Please remember to glance at the unit website (http://southflorida.wbcci.net/ ) regularly to stay in touch. Max & Myra Joseph

A Note of Thanks

Betty Jean and I want to thank all the members of the South Florida Unit for the very special and enjoyable rally you hosted to honor us for our past years of service to WBCCI. First of all it was an unexpected honor which we greatly appreciated. Thank you Max and Myra Joseph as the Unit President for including this rally as part of year’s activities. John and Eileen Frerking your hosting of the rally was fabulous. Also a special thanks to Bob and Bernice Richardson who opened their home to us and took such good care of us making sure we got to attend all the rally activities. I was very surprised at the number of visitors from other WBCCI units who attended the luncheon and the attendance of the Region 3 President and the Florida State Rally Director. All in all it was an outstanding Rally. Thank you to everyone who attended to make this special day a memorable event. Your gift, see picture, to us shall be cher-ished and rekindle many wonderful memories of our adventures with WBCCI. Thank you again for the great rally.

ON GROWING OLD - I very quietly confided to my best friend that I was having an affair, she turned to me and asked, “Are you having it catered’? And that, my friends is the definition of “OLD”! A reportered asked a 104 year old woman: “and what do you think is the best thing about being 104? She simply replied “No peer pressure”!
