Senior School The 17th Annual Sports of The Heritage School was held on 20th January 2018. Almost a thousand students participated in various events including the March Past, mass drill, pyramid formation, martial arts display and athletic events. Mr. Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Division, Kolkata was the Chief Guest. Mr. Neelotpal Das (Chess Grandmaster) and Dr. Kalyan Chowdhury (Academic Head – Sports Authority of India) were Guests of Honour on this occasion.

Aryabhatt House emerged overall winners but the sportsmanship displayed by all the students was commendable. It was a marvellous display of the physical fitness of the participants as well as a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the Sports teachers of The Heritage School.

Junior School “Smallympics”- Junior School Sports Day was held on 13th and 14th January, 2018. On 13th Ms.Aparajita Rai, Additional DC South was the Chief Guest & Mr Sony Norde, Eminent Footballer of Mohun Bagan Club was the Guest of Honour on the Sports Day for classes 1-3. The students performed a mass drill with tambourines, and formed the word “INDIA”. This was followed by track events. On 14th January, Shri Vikram Swarup, Vice Chairman KBT was the Chief Guest of the Sports day for Classes 3 to 5. The meet started with the lighting of the Torch by the Sports Captains. The students performed a well synchronized mass drill followed by a Martial Arts display. This was followed by Fun Games and the Track events. Dronacharya House won the Champions trophy and Chanakya House was the winner of the Drill Cup.

Ankuran Sports - Millympics Day was held on 13th January 2018. The children began with the Mass Drill to the tune of “See the sun shining in the window.” This was followed by the races which were skill based and had the fun element in them, with interesting names like Chefs at Work, Chai Garam, A Spoonful of Smiles and so on. The children demonstrated their agility and confidence and their enjoyment was clearly visible in their smiles. The essence of sports in a child’s life was rightly emphasized by the Chief Guest, Mr Jaydeep Chitlangia. The fantastic turnout and their appreciative applause spurred the children on and kept them motivated till the end.

Deepak Ramola, Founder of PROJECT FUEL, interacted with the students of Classes 8 and 9 on 5th January 2018. Writer, actor and lyricist, Deepak Ramola‘s passion is to meet different people and share their life lessons, and use these to impart life skills to people. So far Deepak

has taught over 40,000 people through his workshops and students of THS were overwhelmed by his presentation.

Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 2018 with a solemn programme with patriotic songs, mime and dance. Shri Jag Mohan IPS, Director General, Fire & Emergency Services, Kolkata, was the Chief Guest.

Students of Class X, who will be appearing for their ICSE and IGCSE examinations, and the students of Class XII, who will be appearing for the ISC and IBDP examinations 2018 were handed over their Pre Board Examination Report Cards in the Blessing Ceremony held on 25th January 2018. The students were blessed by our Hon’ble Trustee and Chairman, School Managing Committee, Mr. J. Chitlangia, Mr. Probir Roy, Director KBT, Mr. P.K. Agarwal, CEO KBT, Principal, Vice Principal and other dignitaries.

The Blessing Ceremony came to a close with the beautiful Heritan custom where each student lit an earthen diya with his/her Class Teacher. The Heritage family wishes all the examinees all the best for their Board examinations.

An International Conference on Chemistry for Human Development (ICCHD2018) was jointly organized by Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata and Professor Asima Chatterjee Foundation, Kolkata to celebrate the birth centenary of the legendary scientist Professor Asima Chatterjee from 8th to 10th January, 2018, with a view to perpetuate her memory and to inspire future generations for the significant improvement of the standard of chemical education and research in India.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Geoffrey A Cordell, Emeritus Professor, University of Florida, USA, Prof. Dipak Kar, Pro-Vice-chancellor, University of Calcutta, Dr. A V Rama Rao, Founder Chairman & MD, Avra Laboratories Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad, Dr. S.C. Pakrashi, President, Professor Asima Chatterjee Foundation, Shri H.K. Chaudhary, Chairman, Kalyan Bharti Trust, Shri Vikram Swarup, Vice-Chairman, Kalyan Bharti Trust, Prof. S.K. Talpatra, Vice-President, Professor Asima Chatterjee Foundation, Prof. Biswapati Mukherjee, Treasurer, Professor Asima Chatterjee Foundation, Shri Probir Roy, Director, Kalyan Bharti Trust, Shri P.K. This Conference focused on Chemistry of Natural Products, Carbohydrate Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Catalysis, Medicinal Chemistry, Herbal Drugs, Advanced Bioorganic and Biochemistry, Structural Chemistry, Chemistry and Industry, Organic Materials, and Nanoscience and Engineering. More than 400 scientists, research scholars and students from various institutions across the globe viz, IIT KGP, IIT Ropar, IIT Kanpur, University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, IISc, IIM Bombay, Heidelberg University, Germany, University of Renes, Andalas University, Indonesia, East West University Bangladesh, IICB, University of Florida, University of Texas, Osaka University Japan, IIIM Jammu, University of Paradeniya Sri Lanka, Purdue University, Nankai University China, IISER, IACS and many more attended the 3 day conference.
