What a fantastic event!

We gathered this past Sunday evening in the Great Hall

for our Fall Fest picnic. We enjoyed games, fellowship

and supper together. It was noisy!

And I thanked God for the noise.

Because it came from the large number of children who

were gathered. They were playing hard. They were having

fun. And they were making a lot of noise!

And I thanked God for the noise.

Because it was a good reminder we have a future. These

children and their families will be around our community

and our church for years to come. They will be making

noise. They will be learning about God and God’s love for

them. They will continue to find their church home is a

place of joy and safety and love.

So … I thanked God for the noise!

Thanking God is always appropriate. Hopefully in this

month of “Giving Thanks” we will take the opportunity to

reflect and recall those areas of our lives where gratitude

should overflow.

Obviously, I am thankful for my family. I give thanks to

God for them daily.

I am extremely thankful for the staff we have here at First

Church. These are amazing individuals with whom I

enjoy daily fellowship. We have a great team in place that

not every church gets to experience.

I am thankful for the privilege granted me to serve as the

Pastor of this congregation. You have welcomed and

embraced Cathy and me since our first day here.

As you reflect and recall … What / Who is on your list of

“I’m thankful for …”?

With God’s grace and peace,

Pastor David

The Advent/Christmas season is fast approaching, and with it comes some of the most beautiful

music of the liturgical year. Monday evening, November 30, the 47th annual “Hanging of the

Greens” will usher in the Advent season. Our own Chancel Choir will be joined by fr iends

from other churches and the community to present this special service calling us to remember the

yearning in all our hearts for the coming of the Messiah. The service will begin at 6:15 with our pre-

school choirs performing. The main part of the service will begin just after they sing. Invite your

neighbors, family, and friends to this worship service that helps us welcome Emmanuel.

Grace to you all……….Jack

MUSIC NOTES

Preschool Place

FUMC Preschool is having a Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday,

November 19th. We are looking for old artifacts that the pilgrims

and Indians may have used. If you have any old items that you would

so graciously let us borrow, we would be very appreciative. Examples

are: animal skins, arrowheads, bow/arrows, tools, 3-legged pots,

clothing, moccasins, baskets, etc. We will return these as soon as

we are finished with our demonstration. Little hands will NOT be

touching the artifacts. They will be displayed by the teachers.

Please see Casi for further questions.

Also, we are currently collecting for projects: egg cartons (the

bigger the better), plastic lids from coffee cans, pool noodles, PVC

pipe pieces, tubing of any size and/or material.

If you have any of these items we could sure use them. You may

drop them off outside of the preschool office across from the

Parlor.

Thank you!

The ladies from the Son Shine Lighthouse would

like to thank the Sunday School Classes

for the donation of food for our ministry.

We are truly blessed to have amazing people of

God who care about this ministry.

Dear Lemons Class and Caring Ministry,

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers

delivered by Clara. They are like a breath of

spring and I am really enjoying them. I

appreciate your thoughtfulness very much.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

To Those Who Donated

Cookies,

Words cannot express how

appreciative we are of

your delicious cookie

donations for our Fall

Carnival. All of the

cookies looked and

smelled delicious! Our

carnival was a huge

success as we served over

350 people here at our

church. There is no way

we could have hosted this

event without your help.

Sincerely,

FUMC Preschool
