Welcome!We are so pleased that you are here to enjoy Inga Binga. This is a fun little show about John F Kennedy and his lover, Inga Arvad. Inga was a guest of Hitler at the 1936 Olympics, and needless to say, was a prime candidate for a spy.

I don’t remember President Kennedy. He died before I was born. My mother talked about his death- how they had heard about it while at school. The principal made an announcement, and the teachers and students wept. I do remember pictures of him- young and vibrant, with Mrs. Kennedy and their young children. Sometimes I wonder how things would be now if he had not died.

Frank Benge is an immensely talented director, and he and his cast have had a blast preparing to show you a glimpse of the personal life of the young JFK. Enjoy!

ometimes scripts come to you in totally unexpected ways. This one came to me on a cold evening during the run of “Table Settings” last season. It was too cold to hang outside while the actors were on stage so I went into the annex to warm up and decided to browse through some of the catalogs we keep in the

annex for directors. I wasn’t expecting to find anything because I never have found a script I wanted to direct doing that. I can no longer claim that to be true.

When I came across “Inga Binga” my first thought was “what a weird name for a script”… then I read a little further and found that the script was written based on documents released because of The Freedom of Information Act. The catalog descrip-tion was enough to make me order a copy to read. I fell in love with the script imme-diately.The script had everything I love: strong characters, good writing and a funny premise.

The fact that it was based on events that actually happened was the icing on the cake and we’ve had a blast putting this together. My thanks to Sara DeSoto for the drama-turgy in the annex with pictures of the real people this play is about. Check it out… of particular interest to me is a photo I’ve seen countless times thinking that it was a picture of Adolph Hitler and Eva… and NOW I know that the woman was Inga Arvad, the Inga of the Binga in the title.

There are a lot of new faces in the cast tonight! As a matter of fact, only three of the performers tonight have ever appeared on The Old Depot Stage before. I hope I have the chance to work with all of them again, as they have been a joy to work with.

So, turn off your electronic devices, relax and travel back with us to 1942 when a young Jack Kennedy was stationed in Charleston, S.C. and had a tryst with the former Miss Denmark in “Inga Binga”

Spring, 1942

Fontina is making her SBCT debut having recently moved to Hutto. She toured for many years with “Medea!: The Musical” and appeared as Rosaline in the acclaimed Off Broadway production of “Romeo and Juliet” and as the title character in the all female production of “Waiting For Godot”.

Justin is proud to be making his stage debut with SBCT. Having been a regular favorite of Austin’s stand-up comedy scene for many years, Justin returned to his theatrical roots in 2015 with the Bottle Alley Theater Company’s critically acclaimed “Insomniac’s Ball”. Justin would like to thank his ex-wife, Phoebe, for no longer being around to make his life difficult during rehearsals.

Michael is stoked to perform at the Sam Bass Theatre for the first time. He is a professionally trained actor currently represented by Linda McAlister Talent with experience on dozens of shorts, commercials and eight independent features. Michael would like to thank his parents, Steve and Nadya.

Seth is a newcomer to the Sam Bass stage. He has previously worked with his school’s theater productions of both seasonal and traditional productions, including a recurring role in “Something’s Afoot”. He is excited for the opportunity to join the Sam Bass Theater’s many talented actors and directors.

Courtney is thrilled to play Inga in her first production at Sam Bass Theatre. A recent transplant from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, Courtney has had the pleasure of performing for nearly 25 years, first as a violinist and eventually on stage as an actor. In addition to Inga, her credits include Maureen in “The Beauty Queen of Leenane”, the title role in “Turandot”, and supporting parts in “Guys and Dolls”, “Fiddler on the Roof ”, “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind”, and “The Vagina Monologues”. Until her move to Texas, Courtney also spent a number of years writing and performing with the Forty Niners Chorus of Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Tim, an actor/writer/musician, hails from San Antonio originally. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2008 with a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Creative Writing, having performed in or directed for over 20 productions. Tim has spent the last three years acting here in Austin with Bottle Alley Theatre Company, where he has performed in numerous original plays such as, “Stage,” “Autumn,” and “The Ivy House,” just to name a few. All of which were written by the Bottle Alley company members themselves. This marks his debut with Sam Bass Community Theatre.

TIM OLIVARES (Lemoyne “Lem” Billings)

Todd deeply appreciates Sam Bass Theater Company and DirectorFrank Benge’s leap of faith, casting him in a show after a 28-year hiatus from the stage. He feels humbled by this opportunity to work with such a talented cast and crew. Todd has appeared in Paris Community Theater’s “Cotton Patch Gospel” as Jesus and in UIL as Virgil Blessing in “Bus Stop”. Todd practices law in Austin. He is the proud protégé of his gifted twin daughters who teach him something every day. When not pursuing justice, Todd writes, poems, plays, and screenplays. He wants to thank his mom and sister who relentlessly encouraged his creativity. He also wants to thank all his family and friends for their support and faith. Todd remains most grateful to his strong, funny, smart, beautiful, and extremely patient wife Kristi.

Logan is happy to be back on stage at Sam Bass Theatre working with this incredibly talented cast and director. Logan has been involved at Sam Bass for many years, both on stage as well as behind the scenes and is currently the President of our Youth Guild. He was honored this past year to receive the 2015 BroadwayWorld Austin Award for Best Young Adult Actor for his role as Genie in “Aladdin, Jr.” performed here at Sam Bass Theatre. When he is not on stage or volunteering his time here, he is sure to be in class or at rehearsal at the Performing Arts Academy high school which he attends. Logan wants to thank his family for always being so supportive of his theatrical adventure.

GENE STORIE (Special Agent-in-Charge) Gene is delighted to be back on stage at SBCT. He last appeared as Wild Bill Boudreau in “Rex’s Exes”. Other favorite roles include Richard in “Fashion”, Polonius in “Hamlet”, Wardell in “Sordid Lives”, Hercule Poirot in “Black Coffee”, and Padre in “Man of La Mancha”. Gene thanks his children, Emily and Will, for leading him to SBCT and his wonderful wife Tracie, with whom he gets to do this show (Yea!), for everything.

GENE STORIE (Special Agent-in-Charge)

Sara fell in love with performing on stage at the age of 12 when she was offered a role in “A Christmas Carol”. She has since performed in many musical, comedic and dramatic productions. Her first production at Sam Bass was two years ago when she played Sheila in “The Boys Next Door”. She would like to thank the amazing cast and crew for the chance to once more work with so many talented people at SBCT.

FRANK BENGE (Director) is the Senior Editor for Broadway World Austin and has been involved with the Austin theatre scene since 1982 as an actor, director, designer and playwright. He has been nominated multiple times by the Austin Critics Table Awards, the Broadway World Awards and the B. Iden Payne Awards. He is a recipient of the Renna Hunter Award and the Central Texas Live Theatre Applause Award and was honored by American Theatre Magazine as part of the cast of “The Suicide” in their annual “Our Favorite Things: The Year in American Theatre”. Among the shows he has directed: “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” (Renaissance Austin), “The Brothers Merlin”(Loaded Gun Theory), “The Chalk Garden”, “All in the Timing”, “Table Settings”, “The Women”, “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof ”, “It Could Be Any One Of Us”, “Queen of Bingo”, “Auntie Mame”, “The Tempest Project” (SBCT). He will be appearing in our spring production of “Death and the Maiden”.

LYNN S. BEAVER (Stage Manager) is celebrating her 21st season here at SBCT. She has appeared in productions of “Hot L Baltimore”, “A Murder is Announced”, “California Suite”, “The Women”, “On The Verge, Or the Geography of Yearning”, “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All for You”, “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot”, “The Mousetrap”, “Ten Little Indians”, “You Can’t Take it With You”, “Whitechapel”, and “It Could Be Any One of Us”, to name a few. As a director Lynn has helmed productions of “The Taming of the Shrew”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “Merry Wives of Windsor”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Hamlet”, “Lend Me a Tenor” (twice), “Moon Over Buffalo”, “Shakespeare in Hollywood”, “Everything I Know I Learned in Kindergarten”, “Our Apocalyptic Dream”, “Hallelujah Girls”, “The King Stag” and “The Velveteen Rabbit” which are a small sampling of her directing resume.
