Reducing environmental impact has become an ever more sensitive issue, in particular for rooftop radio stations located

in urban and industrial areas. calzavara has developed a wide range of low environmental impact products. Among

them CHIMROOF, the rooftop artificial chimneys with heights varying from 2 to 8 m, camouflage the antennas for

one or more fixed and/or cellular network operators.

    calzavara - tel. +39 0432 84381 fax +39 0432 848997 www.calzavara.it [email protected] - Catalogue 2004 - page 8

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe STRUCTURAL PART of CHIMROOF consists of a steel pole

divided into shafts, according to the overall height of the

    structure.

The shafts are joined together by bolted flanges and any single

shaft has a maximum length of 2 m and a maximum weight of

150 kg, to facilitate installation on the roof of buildings.

The square base frame, fixed to the roof by mechanical or chemical

bolts, ensures correct installation and an adequate load

    distribution over the roof surface.

The frame is sized according to the dimensions of the chimney and

the area on which it has to be fitted.

CHIMROOF external surface, is made entirely of plastic panels.

The panels are attached to metal supports adjacent to the

    structural pole flanges.

The panel locking system has been designed to avoid

electromagnetic shielding, allowing the rooftop chimneys to be

opened up at various heights for inspection and maintenance

    operations.

The standard chimney cap available is flat. The wall material

withstands a wind speed of more than 160 km/h, while theoperating temperature range is between 40 and + 110 C.

The standard colour is white, with a smooth external surface.

The ANTENNAS are fixed on a central steel pole.

The arrangement of the chimney wall panels, totally camouflages

    the antennas.

The ANTENNA MOUNTS are designed to support different types

of radiant systems, to provide a wide variety of solutions:

    pipe bracket for panel antennas

    universal bracket for dish antennas.

The FEEDERS and CABLES run down the inside of the CHIMROOF

and are secured by rods mounted on the metal supporting

structure. The exit for the feeders is located at the base, not

    interfering with the roof surface.

The CLIMBING LADDERS are fixed to the steel pole by brackets

and comprise a fall prevention system with a central carrier rail, to

allow sliding of the safety climb device. Access to the internal

climbing ladder is through detachable wall panels.

A footrest is mounted at the base of the antennas, to allow

    installation and maintenance operations.

The CHIMROOF CAMOUFLAGE walls are made of radiolectrically

transparent panels, secured to steel brackets anchored to the

    bearing structure.

The fixing fittings for the panels have been designed to allow fast

and easy installation and maintenance operations.

The LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM consists of a Franklin

type lightning conductor with a gilded-tip pick-up device, fixed to

a rod at the top of the pole.

The AIRCRAFT WARNING LIGHT SYSTEMS both conform to

    ICAO or FAA Standards.

For day-time warning, CHIMROOF can be painted red and white.

The night-time warning system comprises a signalling unit with

    steady or flashing red beacons.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSDESIGN AND STANDARDS

Design follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid ofadvanced software systems.

Structural analysis and static tests conform to the most recent

United States (EIA) and Italian (CNR-UNI) Standards.

Tests to other International Standards (EURONORM, BS, NV65,

etc.) can be carried out on request.

    WIND LOADS

In accordance with the requirements of EIA Standards 222: basic

wind speed equivalent to 100 mph.

The structures are also tested in accordance with Italian

Standards, for wind zones from 1 to 6, roughness class D,category II and Ct = 1.0.

    TWIST & SWAY

Maximum twist and sway at the top of the structure, with a

constant wind speed of 100 km/h, is less than 1.

    MATERIALS

    Pole structure

The materials comply with the requirements of European

    Standards (EURONORM).

    CAT Camouflaging Ar tificial Trees

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe structural part of the artificial tree TRUNK consists of a

steel pole divided into several shafts, according to the overall

    height of the structure.

The outside of the trunk of pines and high palms is covered with

reinforced plastic, resistant to UVA rays and to atmospheric

agents, very similar to the bark of the natural trees.

The outside of the trunk of small palms is covered with

natural palm fibre or a plastic artificial bark.

Most of the trunk of the cypress is covered by the foliage; only

the lower part is covered by a plastic bark.

The FOLIAGE branches of artificial pines are composed of

fibreglass pipes of different diameters in order to achieve the

cone-shaped, irregular appearance of the real foliage. Tufts of

needles similar to those of natural pines are attached to the

    branches.

The branches of artificial palm trees are composed of a

fibreglass stalk and plastic leaves having a natural shape.

The foliage of the cypress is formed by a wire mesh structure

covered with artificial leaves and small branches.

The use of all-plastic and fibreglass materials ensures absolute

    radioelectric transparency.

The ANTENNAS are fixed at the top on a central steel rod or,

when different spacing is required, on special galvanized steel

arms which are painted the same colour as the branches.

The arrangement of the foliage totally camouflages the

    antennas.

The FEEDERS & CABLES run down the inside of the trunk and

    are clipped to steel cables.

At the base, they exit through an underground opening.

For cypresses, the cables run down a vertical cable tray inside

the masking material. Access is also provided by means of an

internal vertical ladder which makes it easy to carry out

    maintenance.

The FOUNDATIONS consist of a buried, reinforced concrete

plinth. Anchoring of the artificial pine is achieved by means of

foundation anchor bolts. An underground passage allows exit of

    the cables and feeders.

The small palm can be installed on terraces as a rooftop structure.

In this case the base can also be a steel frame with a ballast system.

The INSTALLATION of the trunk, pre-packed at the factory,

is not dissimilar to the erection of normal

    slip-joint polygonal poles.

The foliage is assembled on site by inserting the branches into

special steel shanks, welded to the supporting structure of the

pole. The whole erection process is easy and fast.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSDESIGN AND STANDARDS

Design follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid

    of advanced software systems.

Structural analysis, static and dynamic tests conform to the

most recent United States (EIA 222) and Italian (CNR-UNI)

Standards. Tests to other International Standards (EURONORM,

BS, NV65, etc) can be carried out on request.

    WIND LOADS

In accordance with the requirements of EIA Standards 222: basic

wind speed equivalent to 90 mph.

The structures are also tested in accordance with Italian

Standards, for wind zones from 1 to 3, roughness class D,

category II and Ct = 1.0.

    TWIST & SWAY

Maximum twist and sway at the top of the pole, with a constantwind speed of 100 km/h, is less than 1.

    MATERIALS

The materials comply with the requirements of European

    Standards (EURONORM).

    Structural parts: S355JO (Fe 510 C) EN 10025

    S235JR (Fe 360 B) EN 10025

Nuts and bolts: type 6.8. EN 20898-1

    GALVANIZATION

All steel materials are protected by hot-dip galvanizing inaccordance with ASTM A123 and Euronorm EN 1461 Standards.

    OPERATING CONDITIONS

    Temperature: from -20 to 100C - Humidity: 100%.

With the increase of radio stations, reducing the environmental impact has become an ever more

sensitive issue. calzavara has developed a range of products for this purpose, among them artificial trees.

Our artificial austrian pines, maritime pines, cypresses and different types of artificial palms provide solutions for supporting

antenna structures of varying height from 4 to 36 m and over.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The SUPPORTING STRUCTURE is composed of polygonaltapered cone shafts. The base shaft is connected to the

foundation bolts by means of a flange, while the others, which vary

in number according to the height of the pole, are mounted onto

    each other.

The CAMOUFLAGE at the top consists of three semi-circular

frames to support radomes manufactured with radio-electrically

transparent material. The radomes, whose colour can be chosen

from the set described below, hides the antennas and the

    floodlight set.

A working platform is provided inside the camouflaged top

structure, to allow maintenance of the radiant systems and

    illumination.

Advertising signs or logos, can be reproduced on the radome

    surface.

The ANTENNAS are fixed at the top on a central steel rod or, when

different spatial diversity is required, on special galvanized steel arms.

The FEEDERS and CABLES run down inside the structure and are

    clipped to a steel wire.

At the base, they exit through an underground opening. An

external vertical cable tray can be provided as an option.

The CLIMBING LADDERS are anchored on the external wall of the

pole and includes a fall prevention system with central carrier rail.

The ladder is equipped with tiltable intermediate footrests.

To prevent access by unauthorized persons, the ladder can be

supplied with a removable bottom section, or with an anti-climb

    device.

The FOUNDATIONS consist of a buried, reinforced concrete

plinth. Anchoring of the lighting poles is achieved by means of

foundation anchor bolts included in the supply. An undergroundpassage allows exit of the cables and feeders.

The LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM consists of a Franklin

type lightning conductor with a gilded-tip pick-up device, secured

to a rod at the top of the pole.

The AIRCRAFT WARNING LIGHT SYSTEMS both conform to

ICAO or FAA Standards. The night-time warning system comprises

a signalling unit with steady or flashing red beacons.

The GROUNDING PROTECTION carries the electrical dischargepicked up by the lightning protection system to ground. It consists

of a set of copper or galvanized ground rods, connected to one or

more copper conductors by means of clamps and copper busbars.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The FOUNDATION ANCHOR BOLTS, made of steel rods cast in

the reinforced concrete foundations are positioned by a template

    included in the supply.

The SUPPORTING STRUCTURE is composed of individual cone-

    shaped shafts.

The base shaft is connected to the foundation bolts by means of

    a flange.

The remaining shafts, which vary in number according to the

height of the pole, are mounted onto each other and clamped

together by means of a hydraulic jack system, ensuring the correct

    clamping pressure.

The CLIMBING LADDERS are anchored to the outside of the pole

and, in versions with safety climb system, is available both in a

continuous run with staggered rungs and with tiltable,

    intermediate footrests.

A caged version with traditional, intermediate rest platforms can

be installed on some pole types. To prevent access by

unauthorized persons, the ladder can be supplied with a

removable bottom section, or with an anti-climb device.

The VERTICAL CABLE TRAY, consisting of shaped sections, is

welded to the pole at intervals of 500 to 1000 mm, along the

    whole length.

This system firmly secures the cables and feeders.

The PLATFORMS, in hot-dip galvanized steel with metal grating

walking surface, are bolted together on-site.

They are available in different shapes and sizes (triangular, circular,

hexagonal) to suit any technical requirement.

All platforms may be installed at the top of the pole or at

    intermediate levels.

The HORIZONTAL CABLE BRIDGES are designed to provideoverhead support for feeders and service cables between the pole

and the equipment housing. They are available in various lengths

and can be fitted with ice protection covers.

The LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM consists of a Franklin

type lightning conductor with a gilded-tip pick-up device, secured

to a rod at the top of the pole.

The GROUNDING PROTECTION carries the electrical discharge

picked up by the lightning protection system to ground. It consists

of a set of copper or galvanized ground rods, connected to one or

more copper conductors by means of clamps and copper busbars.

The AIRCRAFT WARNING LIGHT SYSTEMS both conform to

    ICAO or FAA Standards.

For day-time warning, the top third of the pole is painted red andwhite. The night-time warning system comprises a signalling unit

with steady or flashing red beacons.

The ANTENNA MOUNTS are designed to support different types

of radiant systems, to provide a wide variety of solutions:

types for corner or side mounting on platforms and suitable for

    omnidirectional, panel and dish antennas

arm type, for cellular omnidirectional and panel antennas

with universal pole brackets, which can be anchored in different

    positions along the pole.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSDESIGN AND STANDARDS

Design follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid of

    advanced software systems.

Structural analysis, static and dynamic tests conform to the most

recent United States (EIA 222) and Italian (CNR-UNI) Standards.

Tests to other International Standards (EURONORM, BS, NV65,

etc) can be carried out on request.

    WIND LOADS

In accordance with the requirements of EIA Standards 222: basic

wind speed equivalent to 100 mph.

The structures are also tested in accordance with Italian

Standards, for wind zones from 1 to 6, roughness class D,

category II and Ct = 1.0.

    TWIST & SWAY

The equivalent surface areas of the antennas and maximum

deflection values are shown in the table on page 52.

    MATERIALS

The materials comply with the requirements of EuropeanStandards (EURONORM).

    Structural parts: S355JO (Fe 510 C) EN 10025

    S235JR (Fe 360 B) EN 10025

Nuts and bolts: type 6.8 EN 20898-1

    GALVANIZATION

All materials are protected by hot-dip galvanizing in accordance

with ASTM A123 and Euronorm EN 1461 Standards.

    FOUNDATIONS

Standard versions provide for reinforced concrete foundations, calculated for an allowable soil bearing capacity greater than

    2 kg/cm2.

The following are also available on request: pile or micro-pile

foundations, rock anchoring, steel rods for roof anchoring.

Slip joint polygonal poles are used in cellular radio base stations and in radio centres, where high antenna loads are

not required. The advantages of this technical solution are reduced environmental impact, modularity of accessory

components, shorter installation times and costs comparable to traditional lattice structures.

    Self Suppor ting Towers

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The FOUNDATION ANCHOR BOLTS, made of steel rods cast inthe reinforced concrete foundations, are positioned by a template

    included in the supply.

The SUPPORTING STRUCTURE has a square section and is

made of open (L or C-shaped) steel profiles, protected by hot-

    dip galvanization.

The base segment is connected to the foundation anchor bolts

by means of flanges welded to the legs. Subsequent segments,

which vary in number according to the height of the tower, are

connected to each other by means of bolted joints.

The CLIMBING LADDERS are secured to the inside of the

structure and are available in two versions:

with T rail safety climb system (art. URST)

caged, with intermediate rest platforms (art. CRST).

To prevent access by unauthorized persons, the ladder can be

supplied with a removable bottom section, or with an anti-climb

    device.

The VERTICAL CABLE TRAY consists of 20 mm rungs,

positioned close to the climbing ladder along the whole length

    of the tower.

The PLATFORMS, in hot-dip galvanized steel with metal grating

walking surface, are bolted together on site.

They are available in different shapes and sizes (triangular,

octagonal, rotating), to suit any technical requirement.

All platforms may be installed at the top of the tower.

The HORIZONTAL CABLE BRIDGES are designed to provide

overhead support for feeders and service cables between the

tower and the radio station. They are available in various lengths

and can be fitted with protection covers.

The LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM consists of a Franklin

type lightning conductor with a gilded-tip pick-up device, secured

to a rod at the top of the tower.

The GROUNDING PROTECTION carries the electrical discharge

picked up by the lightning protection system to ground. It consists

of a set of copper or galvanized ground rods, connected to one or

more copper conductors by means of clamps and copper busbars.

The AIRCRAFT WARNING LIGHT SYSTEMS both conform to ICAO

    or FAA Standards.

For day-time warning, the top third of the tower is painted red andwhite. The night-time warning system comprises a signalling unit

    with steady or flashing beacons.

The ANTENNA MOUNTS are designed to support different typesof radiant systems, to provide a wide variety of solutions:

types for corner or side mounting in different positions on the

tower structure and suitable for omnidirectional, panel and

    dish antennas

arm type, for cellular omnidirectional and panel antennas.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSDESIGN AND STANDARDS

Design follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid of

    advanced software systems.

Structural analysis, static and dynamic tests conform to the most

recent United States (EIA 222) and Italian (CNR-UNI) Standards.

Tests to other International Standards (EURONORM, BS, NV65,

etc.) can be carried out on request.

    WIND LOADS

In accordance with the requirements of EIA Standards 222: basic

wind speed equivalent to 100 mph. The structures are also tested

in accordance with Italian Standards, for wind zones from 1 to 3,

roughness class D, category II and Ct = 1.0.

    TWIST & SWAY

The equivalent surface areas of the antennas and the maximum

deflection values are shown in the table on page 80-81.

    MATERIALS

The materials comply with the requirements of European

    Standards (EURONORM).

    Structural parts: S355JR (Fe 510 B) EN 10025

    S235JR (Fe 360 B) EN 10025

Nuts and bolts: type 6.8. EN 20898-1

    GALVANIZATION

All materials are protected by hot-dip galvanizing in accordance

with ASTM A123 and Euronorm EN 1461 Standards.

    FOUNDATIONS

Standard versions provide for reinforced concrete foundations,

calculated for an allowable soil bearing capacity greater than

2 kg/cm2. The following are also available on request:

pile or micro-pile foundations for ground with low load bearing

    capacity

foundations with steel rods for rock anchoring

foundations with steel rods for anchoring to buildings or otherexisting structures.

Self supporting square section towers are widely used in radio centres.

The various types of tower and technical solutions offered by calzavara make it possible to satisfy various needs

according to the required antenna loads.

    Rooftop

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe ANTENNA SUPPORTING STRUCTURES are made of

tubular or open (L or C) sections, protected by hot-dip

    galvanizing.

They are available, to suit different requirements:

pipe mounts with tripod base: can be secured to the roof by

means of anchoring systems or can be bolted to a self-

    stabilising frame.

self-stabilising frame: in versions for one or several pipe

mounts, for fixing to flat roofs with the interposition of a

    rubber mat.

single pipe mounts: may be fixed on walls of terraces or parts

    of existing buildings.

The ANTENNA MOUNTS are designed to support different

types of radiant systems, to provide a wide variety of solutions:

    pipe bracket for panel antennas

    universal bracket for dish antennas

pipe mount for 3 double antenna sectors.

The WINDBRACES are designed to increase the stiffness of

antenna supporting structures. They incorporate a telescopic adjustment system so that their

length can be adapted to the size of the structure.

The PIPE BRACKETS & ATTACHMENTS are a family of

accessories suitable for fixing windbraces, pipe mounts and

    antenna supporting structures.

The FIXING FITTINGS FOR CABLES & FEEDERS are used to fix

coaxial cables down the side of antenna supporting structures.

All these types of fittings allow adjustable positioning down the

side of the structure to adapt to the required cable routing.

The WATERPROOF ENTRIES are modular components in

aluminium alloy, suitable for wall and roof installation.

The GROUNDING KITS are used for direct grounding of R.F.

    cables and waveguides.

The AIRCRAFT WARNING LIGHT SYSTEMS both conform to

    ICAO or FAA standards.

For day-time warning, the structure can be painted red and

    white.

The night-time warning system comprises a signalling unit with

    steady or flashing beacons.

The HORIZONTAL CABLE BRIDGES are designed to provide

overhead support for feeders and service cables between the

rooftop and the radio station. They are available in various

lengths and can be fitted with ice protection covers.

The CLIMBING LADDERS with T rail safety climb system

(art. URPI), is secured to the antenna supporting structure by

means of galvanized steel brackets (art. SLTC ..../SLFF ....).

To prevent access by unauthorized personnel, the bottom

section of the ladder can be fitted with an anti-climb device

    (art. AUPI 3050).

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSDESIGN AND STANDARDS

Design follows the most modern measuring criteria, with the aid

    of advanced software systems.

Structural analysis, static and dynamic tests conform to the

most recent United States (EIA 222) and Italian (CNR-UNI)

Standards. Tests to other International Standards (EURONORM,

BS, NV65, etc) can be carried out on request.

    WIND LOADS

These are in accordance with the requirements of EIA Standards

222: basic wind speed equivalent to 100 mph (unless otherwise

indicated on the specification sheets for each individual

    product).

The structures are also tested in accordance with Italian

Standards, for wind zones from 1 to 3, roughness class D,

category II and Ct = 1.0.

    TWIST & SWAY

The equivalent surface areas of the antennas and maximum

deflection values are shown in the specification sheets for each

    individual product.

    MATERIALS

The materials comply with the requirements of European

    Standards (Euronorm).

    STEEL:

    Structural parts: S235JR (Fe 360 B) EN 10025

Nuts and bolts: type 6.8. EN 20898-1

    ALUMINIUM:Structural parts: alloy P-Al Mg Si 6060 UNI 9006

Nuts and bolts: type 6.8. EN 20898-1 or sta in less

    steel class A2-70

The various types of rooftop structures offered bycalzavara, make it possible to satisfy widely varying needs to suit

different project requirements. All parts of the structure, including fixing hardware, are in hot-dip galvanized steel

    or alu minium alloy.
