To the north of South Africa the neiu nation of Zimbabue has been born; whilein the Kuila Riuer and the Eerste River just east of the Cape Peninsula morethan a dozen souls have been born into Christ this past month. Like thewind that blows the Spirit of Bod is moving in the hearts of men through theproclamation of His LJord — and your prayers and your gifts sustain thosewho proclaim that word, for which we thank Almighty God

Dear Brethren:

It is the prayer of my heart that God shall richly bless you with every _grace that you may know the greatness of His grace sufficient for every trial, and the power of His Spirit made perfect in weakness with strength for everyday.

Brother A1 Zimmerman has arrived back safely, and is launching right into the^•rk having praached at Mfulanl laat Tim and I travail^ toGuguletu uhara I brought a message on THE CRUCIFICTIDN QF CHRIbT. In the middle of the month I made a trip to LUANDLE near the Strand and preachedthere. SeveraTVisitors were also present from outlying areas. Brother Posehas returned safely from his annual trip home to TRAIMSKEI, and is now preachingagain at MBEKUEIMI, the African township near PAARL.

It yaa a great privilege yesterday. Beloved Brethren, to travel yithAl Zimmermanto the toynahip of Mbekyeni in the Paarl valley yhere 2 ney members had ust beenbaotized. A1 brought a lesson on "GOD AND MAMMON" yhile 1 preached on 'THE LAU &THE GOSPEL." About 100 mere present. The Africans themselyes had been goingstrong with teaching and preaching all through the night.

Thank you so very much for your continued prayers and support of the work here.God is blessing with 2 more baptisms at Guguletu this past month, 6 at Orch.-rd,and 5 at Graaff Reinet. Easter services at Orchard were well attendedpeople coming from as far away as Lainsburg and Riviersonderend, while BrotherMiles rtoeberg made a trip to Graaff Reinet to preach there. I also am planningto visit Graaff Reinet next month, Lord willing.

David Matutu, our young man from Guguletu, is settling down well to his studiesat Uinaton Salem Bible College in Worth Carolina. He writes that he .vS missingus here, but is kept very busy.

Timothy travelled with me to a service at Guguletu recently and brought an objectlesson on the tower of Babel, using a model of the Canadian National Tower. Heshowed that man in his pride wants to exalt himself, but all his efforts lead toconfusion if he does not trust in God.

Last Lord's Day at Mfuleni I spoke on "OUR FREEDOM IN CHRIST." .These lessons arepart of our theme: The Authority of the Old Testament. This is.a vital issue herebecause many are stressing the sabbath, and trying to bind the brethren under theyoke of the law. Other problems, here are jealousy and a drifting backt^nto theworld, while the constant need is for teaching, and more teaching.

My mother is now at a Psychiatric clinic for 28 days of observation and treatment, after which she will return to Bay View, Lord willing. Tim and I went to UynbergPark on Saturday. Next morning I was up at k a.m. and spent 2 hours jagging onthe mountain slopes. After work 1 jog k miles in a half-hour, followed byexercises and a shower. I am training for next year's 2-Oceans Marathon.

Tuesday I visited with Miles Koeberg in Matroosfontein, and then travelled on toGuguletu for a Bible Lesson on Galatians at the home of Brother Matutu. BrotherJeffrey was also there. He is developing from a shy young man into s goodstudent of the Ulord, and an able interpreter.

Wednesday found me again at Macassar for a Bible lesson, followed by a livelytime of discussion with David Jantjies and James Guga, At nights before sleepingI have been studying D, Martyn Lloyd-Jones on ROMANS, and now Newell on HEBREWS.

Thursday at the home of Brother Thomas Solomon in Tiervlei the brethren mettogether for a time of Bible Study on the Gospel of John, and a time of prayer.

On Friday I got Timothy a rain-outfit, because its getting cold on the motor-bikenow. We went to Newlands for a Pizza, visited my Mom at the clinic, and rodeout along the freeway 35 miles to Sir Lowry's Pass for a Bible Lesson anddiscussion at the home of Albert Patreni.

May God grant you an increasing growth in knowledge and grace.

Your brother in Christ,

I qreet you all in Lhriat and pray that God's grace and peace be uiith you. Ipersonally thank ail of you who have remembered us so faithfully in your prayersand gifts. Knouing that his time is short Satan is pulling out all the stops ina frantic effort to destroy the church, but the battle is the Lord's and he uiilnot succeed. Praise God ue are privileged to be involved in His battle.

My mother has gone to her share of glory with the Lci-d this past month. Herhardening of the arteries brought about extensive brain damage and eventuallyresulted in a stroke. Though my father died when we were young, she was faitmu;in her commitment to God, and lived to see her 3 children serving the LordCanada, South Africa and New Zealand.

timothy accompanied me again to Cuguletu this past month, and shared with thebrethren the marvel of a seed thf dies and rises to a new life, comparing thiswith our baptism and resurrection. He is now enjoying his school holiday andrecently went with his mother and with me to a cinema and a restaurant. He had avery good report from school and the teacher is real pleased with his progress-

On a visit to Orchard, about 80 miles north of Cape Town, the brethren of Macassarand I took a communion tray (drilled from a bread-board) and brought a aeriesof messages on "THE NEld LIFE." tiJe also visited a family in L»e Doornd and had atime of prayer with them.

The recent riots temVoV^riii/'"^^ted our Bible lessons in Tiervlei, but at theDeep Freeze factor '̂Compo&nQMte^r Macassar we held a Sunday'evening servipevand.2 weeks ago I preached ,at ,i¥U)ANL;L£ across the bay. 1 alro hbCf-tfi# oppartunityto visit in a home at the..pii|ir Lowry's Pass village, where we plan to holdBible lessons soon, and t5 witness to Barry and Judges Jantjies about God's planof salvation.

This past Lord's Day I preached at MBlKUlNI township neap Paarl, while the otherbrothers travelled to Hermahua where one of the brothers who lacks scripturalqualifications is trying to usurp authority over the church, causing several tostumble in the faith. I sent a latter with the brc-thren travelling there.

A new field of service la opening to us in the rapidly expanding township ofMilLHtLL'S PLAIN which already has 7 suburbs. Brothers Al Zimmerman, Ntobi andmvself, made some calls there and set up Bible Studies In 3 homes. Last lueadayI brought my first lesson in MiTCHcLL'S PLAIN on "THE HuLY bPXKll'i Al Is checkingon the possible use of a school room for Sunday services there.

Lord willing we shall be travelling soon to Robertson (north of Uorcester), andlater to Graaff Reinet together with Brother Miles Koeberg.

I have been increasing the distance of my Jogging, and can now do about 14 milesin lust over 2 hours — that is up the mountain to Constantia Nek, across tothe hirstenbosch Gardens, and back to Kenilworth. At the farmer's Co-op I hadto help standing guard one night during the riots, but we had no trouble.

Cape Bible Seminary Classes now enter the 3rd term of the 3rd year with IcssonsQf, "HlBRcUIS" "THE HOLY bPIRII " and "I RAINING FDR SERVICE'! 1 am typing my lessonsin Afrikaans as a help to the students, because it is the language they are mostfamiliar with, and I also uae it for teaching.

UJhen you pray ask the Lord to grant us His strength and guidance. Ule need him somuch. Ihere is no good thing in us, and without Him we can do nothing.

With tears in their eyes 3 people came forujard at LWANDLE (the beach) thisSunday — 2 to ask for prayer in overcoming trials and temptations, and 1 toconfess Christ as his Lord

dear brethren ,

It did not matter to them that they were in a tin shanty ujith cardboard oversome of the broken windous. Their hearts uere opened uide to the Lord uhoseSpirit had used the ujords of brother Zimmerman to touch cords long deadenedby sin, I had arrived by motorbike during the service, having already preachedat Guguletu earlier. After ue had prayed for them, and shared in the blessingof the Communion service we went outside where I preached to the people of thecommunity. David Jantjies interpreted into Xhosa, speaking through a portableloudspeaker. The brethren then received an offering of 63 Rand (about glDO) forSarah Jo Zimmerman's coming wedding.

It is now Monday, August 16. Last Tuesday at noon I brought a lesson on "TheBattle of Life" at the chapel service of the CAPE EVANGELISTIC BIBLE INSTITUTEwhere brother Jim Parris is now acting Principal.

In the evening I was scheduled to go through to Mitchell's Plain for the BibleLesson, but Brother Glen Bekker told me that 2 people had been killed on thatroad during the day, so I spent the evening at his place checking some slideshe had taken on their recent trip to the States- The previous week we had quitea good turn-out at Brother James Dunjua's home for lessons on 1 JOHN.

Brother Ntobi has started a new congregation in the township of Langa. Theyare busy arranging a meeting place, and I plan to take him in on the motor-bikeas soon as they have one.

Brother Jantjies and I recently made a motor-bike trip to HERMANUS (about 60miles east of Cape Town). It was his first time on the back of a motor-bike,and a little hair-raising on some of the sharp bends through the Sir Lowry'sand Houw-Hoek mountain passes. We brought messages on Galatians, and spentthe afternoon discussing some of the problems of the congregation with one ofthe problems of the congregation. (You read it right the first time).

Last week at Macassar we held a service at the home of a man who recently hadan ear operation, and this Sunday evening we were at Charlie Brown. (I don'tname the streets; I just preach there.) They have started a children's choirwho brought some special music after the service, while sister Denise preparedthe "Vetkoekies" (similar to doughnuts, but no hole).

on October 10-12 we are planning a CAPE DISTRICT MEETING at Orchard on the themeThe Blessings of God." We are expecting brethren from as far as Beaufort West

and Knysna, and the brethren have asked that this be an annual meeting togetherwith the Easter Meetings, so that we can come together twice a year. I am preparing the lesson outlines from the book of Ephesians in Afrikaans for their use.

Last Lord's Day I preached at Guguletu and Mfuleni in the morning. I took withme some clothes which Nancy had sent for the brethren. Our eldest daughterAlandra is suffering from epilepsy in Durban. Sandie Jo is still in Rochester,Mn. Timothy is in Grade 6 at Aliwal Road School, Wynberg. Please continue topray for us, and may the grace of our wonderful Lord be always with you.
