The Fulcrum Foundation has been privileged to work for more than a

decade with school and parish communities, parents, archdiocesan offices

and ministries, businesses, universities, and generous donors like you, who

have tirelessly given their time, talent, and treasure in support of Catholic

education in the Archdiocese of Seattle. This partnership has epitomized

stewardship in action — action that has resulted in thousands of children

gaining access to an excellent Catholic education.

This annual report describes the powerful impact of your stewardship on

Catholic schools and the children they serve so well. While our Catholic

schools have a special mission to reach out to children from poor and

disadvantaged communities, your generosity has supported a commitment

to excellence in Catholic schools that has benefitted all students, and has

enriched our Church and civic community in countless ways.

One question drives our mission: How can we

ensure that an excellent Catholic education is

accessible to all children who seek it?

The Fulcrum Foundation is committed to Catholic school education

because it is at the heart of the teaching ministry of the Church, and

it has proven to form children for success in school and throughout

their lives. our support of Catholic education began with core

programs that provided tuition assistance to families and financial

support to schools. These programs remain at the center of our

mission and are the bedrock on which we have built new and exciting

initiatives to further strengthen Catholic schools. Ensuring children

have access to an excellent Catholic education will require new

partnerships and renewed collaboration with key Catholic school

stakeholders to:

leverage individual donor and foundation support

to increase the aCCeSSIBIlITY of Catholic schools

for children and families from economically

disadvantaged and marginalized communities

Collaborate with school patrons, education experts and

other non-profit organizations to develop and support

innovative education models for long-term VIaBIlITY

Coordinate with the archdiocese of Seattle office for

Catholic Schools to develop long-range strategies that

ensure the strength, vitality and eXCellenCe of our

schools for generations to come

We have answered more requests for tuition assistance than ever before, but the need remains high.

Fulcrum has awarded more than 12,000 tuition assistance grants

since its founding in 2002, but currently we can only meet 34

percent of requests from families. Filling our school classrooms

with a richly diverse student body lifts up not only individuals but

entire school communities.

The many partnerships we have worked hard to develop and nurture

over the past decade are the engine that drives all that we do. The

impact of these partnerships is undeniable. Together:

• We’ve built an endowment valued at $25 million and growing

• We’ve exceeded the $1 million mark annually at the

Celebration of light

• We’ve awarded more than 12,000 tuition assistance grants

since 2002

• We’ve helped to prevent any Catholic school closures in the

Archdiocese of Seattle since the founding of Fulcrum

• We’ve made a promise that Catholic schools will be excellent

and accessible

Amici using a paintbrush to help improve a school classroom, our

The Fulcrum Foundation serves as the umbrella organization for individual school endow-

ments. By combining resources under the Fulcrum Foundation, local schools benefit from

the advice and services of Fulcrum’s fund manager and enjoy a reduced fund manager’s

fee, while retaining discretion to invest their portfolios according to recommended options.
