DO YOU NEED A COURT KEY ??
If you have found that you would like to have access
to the Club’s practice courts 24/7 for a casual “hit”
amongst friends or just to keep in good form,
obtaining a KEY to the Club’s back courts may just be
the answer.
We have found that quite a significant increase from
our club members, who had not previously seen the
need to have a KEY, have found that they have taken
the step to obtain a Key. This has occurred over the
recent Easter Break, and now during the current
School Holiday period.
If you would like to take up the opportunity to have
easy access to the club’s back courts, please just
contact the Club Operations Manager, Anne Baldwin
on 0411 155 707.

FRANKSTON TENNIS CLUB RELOCATION : UPDATE
Relocation of the Frankston Tennis Club
Steering Committee Report
Since my last update there have been more
meeting of the Steering committee (SC) for the
relocation of our Club.
The progress once again has been very slow and
at times frustrating; however we will continue
with the meetings and ensure the best result for
our club.
Also once again the FTC has not agreed or
committed the Club to anything other than the
relocation, and as discussions continue, we will
inform you of the developments.
There are many rumours going around about
our relocation and I can state that that is all they
are, rumours, as nothing has been decided on
the final outcome.
Please find below a copy of an email sent to all
tennis clubs in the area from the FCC. This
whole process will take a very long time – so
keep enjoying your tennis at our fantastic tennis
club.
“Good afternoon Frankston City Tennis Clubs, I would
like to provide an update on the status of the
Frankston City Tennis Strategy. The strategy is
nearing completion and is written in consultation
with Frankston City Tennis Clubs and Tennis Australia
/ Victoria. It will however, not be released for some
time due to the intent to align it more closely with
the work council is doing to develop a Regional
Tennis facility within the municipality.
Council have recently held very positive meetings
with Tennis Australia and Tennis Victoria regarding
the Regional Tennis facility, resulting in the
recommendation to align the two projects /
strategies for consideration and release at around
the same time. Accordingly, council have contracted
consultants who are currently working in the
management, business and financial space for the
Regional Tennis Centre project.
This work will take some time and therefore, it is
expected that both the Tennis Strategy and the
Regional Tennis Centre project will not be released
until the later part of this year.
I thank you for your patience with regards to this
process, however we are setting ourselves for
greater success by aligning the two proposals.”

Chairman Relocation Committee
CLUB’S 125 YEARS CELEBRATIONS UNDERWAY
Our plans are well underway to celebrate the club’s
125 Years in 2016.
A “125 Year History of the Club” is progressing well,
albeit slowly. The first chapter has already been
penned and the very interesting story of the humble
beginnings of our great club are beginning to be
unveiled. Current expectations are for a Christmas
release.
We will keep you up to date with plans for social
events, etc as part of the 125 Year Birthday
Celebrations. Keep an eye on the club Website and
upcoming monthly Newsletters with updates.
The official Birthday date for the club’s 125th year
anniversary is May 2016.
SENIORS REPORT
The SUMMER 2015/2016 season has just finished
with two of our teams playing off in the Grand
Finals. Both teams had a terrific season and
certainly deserved their spots in the Finals. Our
Open Singles Grade 1 team of Dominic Hannan &
Rick Sakamoto were too strong for the Rye team
winning each of the respective Singles matches in
straight sets, with no need to play the Doubles.
And fellow-member Tom Carter had to support the
team from the fence due to his recent back injury.
And our Mixed Doubles Section 4 team played a very
strong Somers team on the day and went down on
the day playing at the Bruce Park courts.
Commiserations to Sean, Corey, Hayley & Alicia – get
them next time !!
And next season promises to be a good one with all
teams being submitted to the PTA for grading. It is
expected that the gradings will be released when the
Fixtures are handed out at the PTA’s Winter 2016
Club Forum to be held at Overport Park on
Wednesday 6 April 2016.
The PTA is hoping that Tennis Australia’s “League
Manager” is working more efficiently with out new
competition season approaching. An update on
League manager is expected to be advised at the
PTA Forum.
If you do have any queries re the League Manager,
feel free to contact the PTA’s Secretary Anne
Baldwin on 0411 155 707.

SENIOR CO-ORDINATOR
PENNANT 2016
Our Club will once again entered two teams for this
coming 2016 Season of Tennis Victoria’s Pennant
competition.
We have nominated our Women’s team (Saturday
morning) for Grade 4; while our Means teams have
sought a higher grade than last year’s entry level 11
(Sunday pm). We are still waiting for the
announcement of the Gradings from Tennis Victoria.
We will be holding a TEAM INFORMATION
AFTERNOON & PRACTICE HIT on Saturday 23 April
from 12 noon – for both the WOMENS and the
MENS TEAMS. (This is the Anzac Day weekend so no
PTA play will occur).
We will present all Players with their official
Pennant Handbooks, & Draws etc. This will be a
good opportunity for all the teams to get-together,
have a hit, receive all the necessary season info and
provide notification of any absences for the season.
The teams will comprise :
Women’s Grade 4 : Natalie Logan (Captain), Renee
Cheasley, Joanne Smith, Rhonda Cronin, Molly
Chandler, Joanne Evans, Christine Choong, Judy
Jungling, Norma George.
Mens Grade 9 /10 : Corey Smith (Captain), Viktor
Sirucek, Tom Baker, Branko Rudonovich & Danny
Hutcheson.
The 2016 Pennant Season will commence on
Saturday 30 April / Sunday 1 May 2016.
See you all on SATURDAY 23 APRIL at 12 noon

4 and 5). Both Grand Final teams’ matches “came
down to the wire”. Our Boys Section 4 team were

they will be happy to have a quick chat about joining the
Friendly Frankston Night Tennis Family.
MID-WEEK LADIES
The current Winter season is just into the second half of
the season – how quickly the time has gone.
All teams are going along smoothly with a lot of help from
our Emergencies. Unfortunately, we are still having
difficulty seeing a Ladder under the new “League
Manager” system. After the Easter break and the School
Holidays, we will all resume again on Tuesday 11 April
2016.
Would just like to wish everyone had a Happy Easter and
enjoy the School Holidays and if you are lucky enough to
be travelling - be safe on the roads.
