Ministry of Mayordomos We might ask ourselves, when we walk in to our beautiful and venerable church here at San Felipe, “ The church always looks so clean! Who does this cleaning for us, that we might worship in such a clean space?” We have in our parish a group of men and woman who have been commissioned by our pastor to take on the task of keeping our church clean on a weekly schedule. Thank God for these generous men and women who make this all possible by giving of their time and talents. We thank you for all that you do behind the scenes in keeping our church looking so beautiful. Deacon Tom and Gloria Mayordomo Coordinators

Homebound Ministry I would like to take this opportunity to inform our parishioners that we have a group of men and women that are dedicating their time and talents to the ministry in providing holy communion to those in our families who cannot be with us at the celebration of the Mass due to health issues that affect their ability to leave their homes. Also we often have individuals who have been hospitalized and are recovering in their homes from surgery and they request communion. If you know of somebody that is in this situation and would want to receive communion on a weekly basis, please contact the parish office. Provide us with contact information. Also if you think you would be interested in this ministry and would like more information, do not hesitate to call Deacon Tom Perez at 243-4628. Thank you.

30th Anniversary Celebration Please join us in congratulating Deacon Jose Lucero for his 30th anniversary in the deaconate. It will be held during the 11:00am Mass on June 11. A reception will follow the Mass. Deacon Jose is and has been a great blessing to San Felipe. Please help us in honoring him and his wife, Rosella, on this special occasion.

SEND OUT YOUR SPIRIT Last week we heard that, following the Ascension, the disciples, Mary, and other followers of the Lord retreated to the upper room in prayer. This week we hear that, while praying in that room, the Holy Spirit comes upon them. Jesus’ post-Resurrection promise, recounted in today’s Gospel, is fulfilled: the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus’ followers. Saint Paul tells us that all of us, in some way, are given gifts of the Holy Spirit, gifts that can be used to spread the Good News. Today is one of the Church’s greatest festivals. Let us carry the refrain of the responsorial psalm with us throughout the coming week: “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth!” (Psalm 104:30).

From the desk of your pastor, Fr. Andy Viva la FIESTA 2017!!

This weekend we gather together as one community of faith to praise our God and to honor our patron San Felipe. Viva la FIESTA!! It is incredibly humbling to see all the people working so very hard and having fun too for this successful FIESTA 2017 weekend. I am truly moved by all those who are giving so much of their valuable time and talent to make this truly one exciting and special time. Thank you ALL!! This year, we are blessed to be celebrating, not only our FIESTAS 2017 but Pentecost too. This conclusion of our Easter Season brings with it readings of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit onto a community in confusion, loss, sadness, grief and pain. When the Holy Spirit came, all that devastation was changed. The power of the Most High God not only inspired that early community but it infused a sense of direction, hope and purpose that continues to be realized to this very day. In this my second year here I am extremely impressed by our young Royal Court competitors and their families. These young folks and their families have truly become ambassadors for San Felipe. They have brought the name of San Felipe to many places already, they have raised a great amount of money to assist in making our FIESTAS 2017 a great success and they will continue to represent San Felipe in the year to come in many exciting and wonderful ways. Thanks to our Royal Court!! Also, our senior King and Queen Jose and Estella Parra honor us as we acknowledge them during this wonderful celebration. Congratulations to ALL our Royalty this year. Finally, as we come together we must remember amidst all the preparation, excitement, work and enjoyment, we are about praising our God and sharing in this most blessed time to raise our funds for our insurance bill. Also, we are here to host the whole of Albuquerque to the FIRST AND FINEST FIESTAS for the whole year. I pray our God will continue to bless you and our whole community today and always! Thanks again for all your work and support. Viva la FIESTA!! Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Andrew J. Pavlak – Pastor

Annual Catholic Appeal Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Annual Catholic Appeal campaign for 2017. Currently, we have a 25% parish participation for San Felipe. That is excellent! We are also currently ahead of our yearly goal of $27,500. Remember that contributions in excess of our yearly goal come back directly to the parish.. For everyone who has pledged but not yet sent in their contribution, please consider doing so. Thank you again and God bless you.
