Each summer, Catholic Charities’ Camp I Am Special serves meals to over 400 campers with special needs, buddies, and staff. With their days full of activity, homemade meals are gob-bled up and greatly appreciated by our campers! We need your help in providing lunch, dinner or snacks for camp over the 7 week-long ses-sions. Camp runs from June 11 to August 5. If you are looking to make a difference in someone’s life or your own, this may be your opportunity. The Pastoral Care Ministry needs volunteers to visit and bring communion to our Sick Brothers and Sisters. We are in great need of people to visit the homebound which will be a weekly visit of 30 minutes and also to our nursing homes which are 2 to 3 hours a month, once a month or every other month. You will need to be a Eucharistic Minister or anyone who would like to become one. The Sulzbacher Supper dates for 2017 are 5/22, 6/26, 7/24, 8/28, 9/25, 10/23, 11/27. Join us on any of these 4th Monday’s to cook and serve the evening meal at the Sulzbacher Center at 611 E Adams St. Cooks arrive at 3:00 pm to begin food preparation, servers arrive at 5:30 pm. We begin serving the meal at 6:00 pm and are always finished by 7:00 pm. Come by yourself, with a friend, a family, or a minis-try. ‘Dios está cerca y cami-na a nuestro lado’ ( Ciudad del Vaticano, 26 Abr. 2017). - El santo padre Francisco inició la audiencia de este miércoles retomando el tema de la esperan-za cristiana, recordó que entre los símbolos cristianos de la esperanza está el ancla por-que que Dios nos está cerca, y debemos es-tar anclados en él. Porque camina a nuestro lado y no permanece indiferente, sino que está lleno de amor y ternura por cada uno de nosotros. El Pontífice llegó en el jeep descubierto y cruzó los diversos pasillos de la plaza salu-dando a los presentes, que le aguardaban agitando pañuelos, y con diver-sas expresiones de cariño. El Santo Padre hi-zo subir a algunos niños al vehículo que se detuvo veces para saludar y bendecir en particular a los bebes y ancianos. En el resumen de la catequesis de hoy, que el Pontífice realizó en idioma español, indi-có que “las palabras del Evangelio de san Mateo que acabamos de escuchar nos asegu-ran que nuestro Dios es un Dios cercano, que camina a nuestro lado. No es un Dios lejano e indiferente, sino lleno de amor y de ternu-ra por cada hombre y mujer”. “A diferencia de nosotros, hábiles en arrui-nar vínculos y derribar puentes, Dios perma-nece fiel, nunca nos deja solos, sino que ca-mina siempre a nuestro lado, aun cuando

Recordó también que “la Sagrada Escritura está llena de historias de peregrinos y viaje-ros, como la de Abraham que, siguiendo la voz del Señor, abandonó su tierra para ir al encuentro de Dios”. “En el camino de la vida –prosiguió el Santo Papa– nadie está solo, y para nosotros los cristianos, esta certeza es aún más fuerte, pues las palabras de Jesús: «Yo estoy con ustedes todos los días hasta el fin del mun-do», nos aseguran que él nos cuida y nos acompaña siempre”. Y señaló que “entre los símbolos cristianos de la esperanza está el ancla, que evidencia cómo la esperanza cristiana no sea un senti-miento indefinido que quisiera mejorar el mundo con la propia fuerza de voluntad, sino la seguridad en lo que Dios nos ha pro-metido y realizado en Jesús”. El Pontífice concluyó saludando a los pere-grinos de idioma español, “en particular a los grupos provenientes de España y Latinoa-mérica”. Y les deseó “que en este tiempo pascual la contemplación de Jesús resucita-do, que ha vencido a la muerte y vive para siempre, nos ayude a sentirnos acompañados por su amor y por su presencia vivificante, aún en los momentos más difíciles de nues-tra vida”.

En la tradición de la Iglesia el matrimonio es considerado un sacramento del amor de Dios que es invisible y hecho visible a través de la unión del hombre y la mujer. Por eso se les pide a las parejas que hablen con el sacerdote ocho meses antes de la boda. Esto nos ayuda a prepararnos, como familia para preparar no solamente la ceremonia sino también nuestra men-te y corazone para recibir el regalo y la gracia del sacramento del matrimonio.

Presentar un niño para el Bautismo es una obligación seria y requiere de un compromiso de fe por parte de los padres y padrinos. Este compromiso se ejemplifica ser practicante, católicos activos por lo menos 6 meses, en la Parroquia de San José. Si usted se acaba de mu-dar a la parroquia, una carta de su párroco anterior veri-ficando que usted era activo es aceptable.

Cuando se trata de cambiar, ¿asumimos nosotros la responsabilidad de cambiar o pen-samos que los demás tienen que cambiar? El cambio que es permanente viene desde adentro, debemos tomar el control y ser disciplinados. Recuerde que no estamos solos, Jesús está allí para ayudar a aliviar la carga.
